I think your second image tells more of a story, as it has several items in the glass basket. however, the grey "stripe" coming out of the upper left corner is a distraction.... rule of thumb...never have anything coming directly out of a corner, fences, roads, lines, etc. unless it is critical to the image, which this is not. Perhaps move it down to about 3/4 on the left or to the bottom left between the snake and second "figure"...to balance the 2 grey stripes.
As a foot note I began judging about 35 years ago, in the early 1980's. but, reluctantly, I can no longer do any judging due to health reasons...I loved judging the Color, Nature and Travel internationals as well as a dozen or so clubs, and several district fairs here in the valley...I was also the Gen.Chairman of the San Joaquin Valley Int. for 17 years, giving it up last year... |

Yes, I would prefer a simple frame...I just don't get the connection between the glass and the figures in the very bright frame...without the title they are lost....your original image benefited by elongating the glass, so I would stick with the creative one...just get rid of the figures in the frame...For competition purposes one can not have one's signature in the image...I have known some judges to disqualify an image with a signature on it... |

What a lot of work to remove all those extra fence boards, and you did it very well...cropping to include only what you really needed...While the placement of the peacock is Ok, I would like to see him not so posed....do you have one that is coming toward you? Love the swirled effect of the trees and grounds... |

Very nice. The "chopped up" sky really makes this image... If it were mine I would remove both the turquoise circle and several of the other "lines" in the sky upper right......which Topaz effect did you use to get the squared look in the buildings? I have most of the Topaz programs, but don't recall this one.... |

Love the final effect of the grit, etc. However, I would zoom the image and carefully remove the halo effect on the left side of the cowboy.....good job.... |

Good job....love the creative effect...while the original background is nice this one is a WOW!!! I need to learn more about moving subjects from one scene to another...I've been told it is very easy, but I just haven't taken the time to do it.... |

Sorry, but the addition of the figures in the frame really bother me...even though I understand the connection between the frame and the lighted glass...I like the elongated effect but the figures on the frame seem out of place... just my opinion...as an International judge I would give this an average score...Also, remove the name in the lower right corner...that's a no, no in competitions. I do like the rich tones of the glass and lighting effects... |

I purposely left the edge of the ship in for perspective. But, it could easily be cropped out....I don't remember which castle is on the hill, as there were so many on the river tour... |

While it is true that there is sooooo much shown in this image the fish must be the main story...Having been there and seen them throw those big fish across the room is an experience...I think I was lucky and caught a fish in the air many, many years ago, with slide film...have no idea where that slide is now...it's a fun thing to watch... |

I like the composition of the flower and vase, but, I feel the vase overpowers the flower...If it were mine I would crop about half of the vase out to concentrate more on the flower, which is the main subject...very nice background... |

I would leave the image as it is...no more cropping...I might try lightening the pine trees just a tad to give it more life...love the composition of the bison and the rolling hillsides... |

Good capture of the fireworks...A very difficult photo to take of the fireworks....However, I find the "halo" outlines on the buildings a bit distracting...they can very easily be removed... |

I agree that the pink tinge on the birds' head might be distracting, but it is also there in the original...so, where is it coming from? Good cropping on the bird to make a really great portrait... |

Love the subject matter...however, my eye keeps bouncing back and forth from the girl to the boy in the balls...I don't think you could separate them and get the same effect...good composition though to tell the story... |
