Yes, Mike, as the maker, I chose f/8 because I wanted the back to fall off. In my mind this is the way I saw it and the human I would see it. I wanted to convey the beauty the marsh , the grasses, the gulls calling and the serenity of the moment.I could have used a long exposure to smooth out the water. For me, I made the decision of two composition elements, not to have sharpness front to back and not to use a slow shutter speed to make the water silky. |

His expression and eyes are wonderful captured by the light coming down on him.
I would have liked to seen what he was doing with his hands. A stroke border would help define the image. Vey nice. |

If your intent was to make a high image, I would liked to have seen the bird sharper.
The fog does give it a moody look and if minimalism was your intent, I believe you succeeded. The branch on the left brings nothing to the party. |

I love dirt roads. Matter of fact, I grew up on one and remember my Mother getting so upset when they proposed paving it. That's another story, got off topic.
To me this image would be more impactful if you cropped the sky down by 1/2. The subject is the road and farmland. I would also check the WB, it appears a bit off to me. |
