What a poetic description and narrative of this painting's journey. I can tell that you were inspired. How did you know that the trash can was even a part of the artist's installation?
Now, to be honest, I like your version better than the actual setting. The colors and textures all pop and really complement each other. The color palette is exceptional; I especially like all the touches of turquoise. Excellent result! |

Good call with painting the bark of the tree with more texture. It looks great and complements the woodpecker. My personal preference would have been to paint the green background a bit softer or smoother. That way, the tree and woodpecker would take center stage and the background would not compete with them. That being said, your painting techniques are getting better and better. Keep going ! |

Hi Nancy. I have not heard of the Rebelle program. I will have to look at that. Are the brushes similar to those of BTB?
I love how this painting turned out.... and from a small extracted portion of the original!! Amazing. I prefer the "original" painting... perhaps that's because it is in more of a horizontal presentation, giving the dancer more room. Brush strokes on both versions are perfect and I would not change one thing. The "With Oil" definitely brings it up a level, too. |

Congratulations Gerhard on your Showcase image. A well deserved honor.
The sea and sky came to life in this painting! I love all the textures, color and drama that your processing choices created.
I wouldn't change a thing. Well done! |

You have done so well with composites in the past, and this one is no exception. It is excellently done!
With composites, I always pay attention to lighting and shadows. The lighting in this composite is very effective. My only critique is about the drop shadows. The back wheel does have a drop shadow, but I would extend this to go under the tire itself. That way, the wheel wont look like it's hovering over the field. Then you can copy this effect onto the front wheel as well, which does not have a drop shadow at all.
This is a perfect setting for this tractor, in the agricultural fields of the Palouse. Great creative thinking to make this image ! |

You are very welcome. And keep coming to this group to see all the wonderful paintings that our members are creating. And... beware, painting with the Mixer brush in PS is very addicting!!
(And there is also a wonderful subscription course by Michelle Parsley at Elevate Your Art)

Hi Judith. Thanks so much for the great comments. I wrote an article for PSA on how to "paint" in PS. I hope you have access to the PSA Journals. The article was published in the February 2022 edition. If you cannot get prior versions of the Journal, you'll have to put your email here and I can email you a copy. |
