I absolutely love the presets/effects that you have applied to the background. But, I am most pleased that you have started to use the mixer brushes. I can see several of the brush strokes used, so kudos to you!! As Trey remarked, this is a journey... an addictive wonderful one at that. Great, great effort. I'm glad you liked my article and I hope it helps you along this journey.
PS... if you're painting a scratchy texture, one of my favorite brushes is the Sargeant 2017 (part of Kyle Webster's megapack in Real Oils). |

I like the vantage point from where this image was taken. Your processing choices gave this an excellent, serene mood. The greens and grays appear muted nicely, while the blues of the statue and the orange headband draw me into Eliza's reign... with her outspread arms taking in her domain. My personal preference would be to desaturate the red object behind the girl. All the other tones are so consistent; so the red draws my eye to it, rather than this great scene. I wish I could have been there to see the XMAS lights. Nicely done. |

Great eye!! What a fantastic scene. To me, having the background cup smaller that the one in the foreground makes me think that there is a receding "line of cups" past these two. I love that illusion. The colors in the original really stand out. And then, in the painting, the colors take on a more dramatic and painterly effect which is absolutely perfect. Great result. |

I love the color palette of this painting. The consistency of the purples and greens really allows the bee to take center stage. Your processing choices were excellent, especially the saturation and the effect that created outlines on the floral petals (love those). Well done. (I have to admit, though, that I also love the serene, calm mood of the original as well. Both have appeal to me.) |

I LOVE this as a monochromatic painting. It now shows off all the textures of the elephant family, perhaps even better than the original photograph. The reflection is fantastic. I do agree with Nancy that the background seems a bit too busy. Perhaps using a Gausian blur on a new layer and then masking out the elephants and reflection might help. But, I also love your idea of using a plain white canvas background. I cant wait to see that rendition next month. |
