Absolutely wonderful. The first thing I noticed in the original was that she looked unbalanced. Your wonderful creation of a boot fixed that. Your shadows are perfect! The idea of adding a line drawing of the ship as well as grasses was also inspired. The only, very minor, tweaks I would make would be to clone out two hard-edged brayer marks (there is a long one in the middle of left side and another one directly above the red emblem in her hat). Other than that, this is perfect.... wish it were mine. :-).
PS... And who could ever beat that menacing expression on her face !!!!!! |

The color palette created by the field of flowers and the road are fantastic. It's hard to believe that so many flowers exist all the way to the horizon. Your processing choices maintained the feel and color of this image. Well done.
Like Nancy, I could not resist playing with this one. But, I created a duplicate layer and then flipped it horizontally. Then I changed the blend mode of the new layer to "darken" to show both mirrored images. I liked the symmetrical feel of the mountains the best, and did not mind the center diamond that was created by the intersection of the roads. I was just playing, as I did like the feel of this image very much. I hope you do not mind my results.

You are definitely becoming the "Master of Composites." This is another excellent rendition. I love that my eye travels directly up the path and back again. I know that you added subtle shadows under the table. It would not hurt to intensify those shadows a bit, especially under the right-most chairs. Right now, it does look like those chairs are floating above the grass, rather than being "in" the grass. "Grounding" shadows would easier take care of that. Like Nancy, I love the idea of adding grapes and flowers. Great result. |

Excellent image. There are so many possibilities here. I like it as it is, with two subjects. Nancy's three subjects also has merit.... as well as cropping it as a vertical and only including the main thistle in the composition. Cropping it as a vertical would also leave the thistle in the power point position. I appreciate how your artistic choices muted the background elements, really allowing the HSL thistle enhancements to take center stage.
