I love the low angle of view in this image as it lets me see the vast expanse of this canyon. Your processing did well to keep those wonderful textures intact. I agree that losing those would not have resulted in a successful outcome. The textures in the sky balance nicely with the canyon floor textures as well. Since there seemed to be NO SNOW in Snow Canyon, I hope that means that Spring is here. Great image. |

You are definitely the master of water colors. This is wonderful. I especially like the blue reflections (?) in the water. Looking closer, those are actually boats! I still love this aspect as it gives movement to the water and I like that it was not rendered as one solid color. I also love the saturated colors and tones that your processing choices brought out. Well done. |

I love the textures that your processing introduced into this rendition. I prefer this version over the colored version. My eyes just wonderfully flow from petal to petal. I agree with Nancy that the addition of a subtle shadow would add interest to this image. |

What a great story telling image. And the painting really enhances the feel of this winter scene. The "oil paint" mood of this is wonderful. I can see why it has been so popular in art shows. (IF you were able to go back to revisit this, I would not mind if you cloned out the man in the green coat. This is just a personal preference and a "nit pick" suggestion. The painting is strong either way). Great painting. |

Wow, Pat. I agree with Nancy - what a great start. You did great. If you do get addicted to painting with the mixer brush and want to go further, I agree that Elevate Your Art/Beyond the Brushes is an excellent comprehensive program. Both Nancy and I are members. My article was a way to introduce people to the basics of painting in PS.
In your painting rendition, I love that you painted out the background and transformed the modern umbrella. Well done. |
