This is so absolutely painterly, and at the same time, so gritty - and I love it! The diagonal shadows on the roadway and at the front runner's feet are wonderful. Those diagonals help us feel the movement and the depth of the runners. And even though we don't see their faces (which are not needed anyway), we sense the drama of the race. Well captured, and well done.
AND... PS, a great title !!!! |

This really was the epitome of "turning trash into treasure." A very interesting and wonderful final rendition. You don't even have to know what it is; your intuition just tells you that you love it. The red and "sepia" like tones work well together. The red stroke and it's drop shadow add depth. Parts of the composition outside the "frame" add dimension. I wouldn't change a thing. |

Based on your horizontal presentation, I never would have guessed that this was tree bark. I love what your choices have created for this image. It now seems like it's glowing - well done. I love it as an abstract; but I can also envision many other uses for this image. It would make an excellent background or texture for future projects. |

I am so happy that you are "dipping your toes" into the world of the Mixer Brush. I hope you find it as rewarding, and as addictive, as I do. Your settings seem right on - clean brush, set a % for a moist preset, sample all layers, and set up your Wacom. I like that you used various brushes; and especially like the brush you used on the trees and the cobblestones. You made them look very painterly - excellent. I hope that you keep going with the Mixer Brush. |
