Thanks, Georges for your comments. I liked your suggestion of considering DOF over noise. This particular section of my yard does get a lot of wind coming off the river out back. And unfortunately that is where the small insects seem to appear.
Looking forward to seeing your image next month.

Hi, Sandra.
Interesting shot.
I cannot add much technology to what the others have said. This image, to me, is one that does not cause you to pause and study all the subtle details which is something I really like to do.
However I do admire your adventurous and creative spirit. Looks like you had lots of fun creating it.

Hi, Dick.
Thanks for the helpful critique.
I did check out the Paper Wasp image in Group 90. The sharpness Dan achieved is amazing. His shot is wonderful!
I probably should have taken time to put on my macro lens also. Of the many shots I took some were a bit sharper but I did like the composition of this one better.
Maybe the Great Golden Digger Wasp will come around again.

Hi, Ally.
I used the 70-300 Nikon lens on my Nikon D500. Fairly light lens so I can handle it quickly without a tripod. I keep that lens on the camera so it is available for a fast grab when I have nature activity in my yard. The wasp was close to an inch long and more slow moving than the bumble and honey bees. Haven't seen it in the yard since. I did crop it also to get a more pleasing composition.
For an inexpensive lens it is quite versatile and gets a lot of use! |

Hi, Charissa,
Interesting capture of the budding zinnia. Wonderful detail and sharpness to the bud itself. I do not find the background too distracting as it does bring the budding blossom to the foreground. However I tried a little crop off the top and down the righthand side to see if that would take care of any concerns you might have .
I enjoyed spending a lot of time examining the bud as it certainly shows how the flower is develops. Thanks for allowing me to do that.

Hi, Ally.
I like your image of the rose very much! The muted background is very effective in allowing the rose to be the center of interest. I see you caught some droplets of water which adds to it also. Very sharp throughout. The composition is great also. Sometimes even the smallest crop can make a lot of difference.
Great job and welcome to the group!

Beautiful image, Dick!
I immediately wanted to touch the lone green leaf as it appears it would be as soft
as velvet. Love the background tones. Interesting is the tonal variation in the stems and tendrils. Wonderful detail throughout. Good choice in the border also.
Definitely expertly done!
