Barrie, As an image with impact, this certainly meets that criteria and grabs the attention with a vengeance. You are to be congratulated in taking the brave step of reducing the image to only two hues. Your choice of colours at opposite sides of the colour wheel has created a visual disconnect that does not endear the viewer to a restful experience. Having reached that stage, I wanted something else in the view upon which I could rest my gaze. As you say, there was humour in this image and it was very much tongue-in-cheek. |

Nancy, I agree with Marie about extending the stem of the monochrome flower. This would anchor it within the picture frame rather than have it floating within the space. |

Marie, I hope you enjoyed your trip. Several years ago, my wife and I had a holiday in Cambodia and Vietnam and we had a fabulous time. Your image is typical of the scenes that you come across in these countries. Compositionally, the image works with good lead-in lines and circularity. I am not sure about the added texture as for me it has given the image the feeling of a faded colour transparency of yesteryear. |

Nancy, Clearly this was a fun project which enabled you to produce the high-key note cards. The white background works well as the foil against which the flowers stand out, particularly the colour version in which the flower really pops forward. Compositionally, I wanted the flower stems to flow from left-to-right which would have been achieved with flipping the images horizontally. With the mono flower, I felt that the flower petals in the lower left quadrant bleed a bit into the white background. Perhaps we need to tweak the exposure and/or contrast to delineate more the edges of the petals. |

Joan, Thank you for your kind words which are much appreciated. I meant to include in my description that I also added the brush stars in the top right quadrant and the grasses in the foreground. |

Joan, I like the way that you have tightly cropped onto the main area of interest. This works very well and I like the excitement that you have created. The dark pants provide a good foil for the excitement and movement of the swirling colours. Well done. |
