21 Jan 17 Comment Ojars, I am always drawn to images where I haven't a clue what I am looking at. This makes me stop and stare, and visually engage with its content. Whenever there are no obvious visual clues, I draw from my own life experiences to try to make sense of it all. The outer space analogy works well for me. This is an image that I like very much because of its strong graphic content. It would work even better for me if there was a thin stroked line around it. Jan 23rd
21 Jan 17 Comment Nancy, You have used your digital imaging skills well to produce an image that has a visual softness to it which is most appealing. Removal of colour and replacement with a low opacity sepia/chocolate effect works well. I wanted to see either just the circular shape or the image as presented but with a thin stroked line around the square to prevent the dark areas bleeding into the black background. Jan 23rd
21 Jan 17 Comment John, This building has featured in several of your submissions over the years. I love the effect that you have achieved on the building which makes me want to take a macro view of the effect and to create an abstract of part of the building. Your limiting of the effect to the building and the sky has worked well to increase the visual isolation from its surroundings. Jan 22nd
21 Jan 17 Comment Barry, Like the Topaz Glow of Joan's image, I am also a fan of the Edges filters. However, in the latter case, the treatment needs to be subtle to maximise its effect and impact on the viewer. Compositionally, I like the way in your image that there is foreground interest with almost natural colours, the line of which leads us into the valley beyond. Not sure whether this image excites me as much as some of your previous iterations particularly those of figure studies. Jan 22nd
21 Jan 17 Comment Joan, It won't come as any surprise that, as a fan of Fractalius and Topaz Glow, I quite like this picture. It has a romantic quality that I find quite enchanting. The range of colours is lovely and the soft-focus edges draw me in. Jan 22nd
