You're right, Terry. The cropped figure of the man walking away "makes" the story. The feeling of the piece is enhanced by your masterful painting, especially in black and white. |

That was clever of you to add the vibrant background and a bit of the color reflected on the man's shoulders. But I'm bothered by the two almost ghostly workers in the foreground. The central figure seems to be towering over them, yet their tools and position make it seem like they are in front of him. It's this perspective that seems to be off. To my eye,I think the painting would be stronger with just the main figure, which is very nicely rendered. |

Thanks, Cindy. I appreciate your constructive criticism-- that's why I joined this group. I don't view it as being "harsh." (We once had a member who left the group because we had made suggestions.) The background was from another image, which I then painted. |

Thank you, Trey. Yes, that hand gave me trouble and I see that I overlooked the distractions in the background. Although this was an Asian festival, I wanted to make her costume more generic.
