This shot could also be an example of the theme 'textures'. I find myself trying to figure out what each of the items would be used for. I like the frame, with an opening. Have you tried flipping it so that the frame opening comes from the left instead of the right? They say that our eyes are trained to read from left to right, although I doubt it matters much, but is just a thought. You're right, the just taste of the color red is a perfect addition! |

Wonderful details and sharpness of this fellow! I like the white background and might have a tendency to crop just a little from the bottom of the base, giving only the owl to consider. Either way, I like your treatment! It's not often that we have the option of shooting an owl with this much details (up close). |

Good eye for composition and lines. I understand driving past scenes or buildings and thinking what a good photograph it would make, and many times do not get back to take the shot. You might consider removing the sign that is near the rear of the car on the right. The car's presences does not bother me as they add to the symmetry I think. |

Ah, you captured a great image of the northern lights. One of my best shots of these was taken a few years just outside of Fairbanks, but the tmep. was not as low as what you were facing (mid Oct.). Like you, one of the things I have learned about night shooting is that sometimes some of the settings or the focus gets changed, and I fail to correct it until later, looking at an image on the computer!! Yep, cold fingers do get bothersome! |
