I am visiting from a different group and do so enjoy the natural lighting, colors, and shadows in this image. |

Tom, what program did you use for smoothing the skin? Can you tell us how you did that? I like the changes, but rarely take portraits, so am not knowledgeable in this area. |

Oops, looks like I forgot to comment on your image Alice. I like it, and it is one of the better pictures I have seen of old vehicles.....no distractions and wonderful exposure. I think all of the old rusty vehicles have their own personality, or look, and this one looks as if it had a happy life. Well-done! |

Yes, the falls there are nice in the winter, although I have not tried them yet. If you get back up this way, there is quite a nice set of waterfalls near Rock Island, Tn. called Twin Falls (Rock Island State Park, about 20 or so miles from where you shot this one). I have shot it during the winter, and it's beautiful. Thanks for reminding me of winter shooting of waterfalls......I don't travel on bad roads tho, so that can be problematic....have to carefully choose the day! If you live anywhere close to Chattanooga, the sandhill cranes should be arriving there by the thousands (on the river, above Chattanooga, out from Dayton, Tn.) They're always fun to shoot during the winter months of Dec. and Jan. too. |

Tom, is this fall creek falls? You were close to my neck of the woods.......about 50 miles away! From what I understand, that park has more than one falls, although I have not investigated them. |

The image gives the feeling of a wet autumn day for sure. I love foggy mornings and like how you have brought out many details. Image depth is quite nice. Now where is that red canoe when we need it!!

Nice pose, head position, and pleasing colors. My preferences for backgrounds are usually more muted, but this works, depending on your intention. Even tho the diagional bright background is different, it's also pleasing. The skin tones might benefit from some adjustments? I'm not a portrait photographer, so I don't have suggestions for the skin tones, but others here might.....or maybe they're ok? The exposure and pose are quite nice. |

Kathy, I didn't even notice the people until you mentioned them! Nothing to not like about this image! Wonderful textures, movement, and modern look to this image. I might have a tendency to lighten the shadow or spread it out a little more that is at the bottom and to lighten the mid tones of the objects sitting on the wooden boxes, but neither are necessary. All of the angles, shapes, with few objects, make a compelling picture. |

LOL, Tom, you are an adventurer for sure! Sleeping in your vehicle so that you can capture the falls early the next morning is for sure dedication! Wonderful capture of a lovely place. I like the colors and composition. I might have a tendency to lighten the dark areas at the bottom of the stones, but it's pretty perfect just the way it is. Good job capturing it all with 50mm! |

If I ever make it to death valley, I am now committed to trying to shoot this waterfalls! It is intriguing. Revisiting your image, I realize that what pulls at the eye, away from the falls, is the lightness of those two parts of the image in the left upper quadrant, where the sun seems to be shinning on a canyon wall to the left and behind the overhanging tree. If you could perhaps clone part of those areas with some of the wall/tree that is in that part of the image, more emphasis might be on the falls. Just a thought. Thanks for letting us know about the falls. |

I like the crop. Vertical works well here I think. I do like the chrome color in original 3 but the reds and yellows in the final look great! Well-done! |

Nice rusty feeling on this old door handle, and wood textures. I might have a tendency to sharpen it a little, but that's a personal preference. I like the warm colors. It's funny that both of us chose to display parts of old barns this month. We've had dreary weather here for a while now it seems! |

Richard, it looks as if you are in the stream?? I like Paul's suggestion of trying to position the camera so the branches at the top don't interrupt the view of the top, although I have been in situations that was not possible too. It looks like a lovely place to shoot, and nice falls. My favorite shot tho is the first one on the right, the darker one, and a single shot, as I like the ripples on the water. The whites in the final look to be a little blown. Either way, the colors are nice, and the framing from the sides I enjoy. Sometimes when I have water with a fairly blue cast, I make an adjustment in ps to get the water white or a lighter shade of gray. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Your effort to get this falls is appreciated. I know how it is to walk a mile, and part of that is a creek or river that has slick rocks under the boots, and you are carrying expensive equipment! Nerve-wracking for sure! So Death Valley has a waterfall! |
