Sylvia I liled your comment mentioning Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, one of the most controversial artist of the late Italy Renaissance. Visual art, especially from the Masters of Renaissance, truly can help creativity in many directions. Marge, I'm a quiete observer and watcher. I rarely flip images, but I carefully lock at the work appearing in this site and consider the options. I do not know why, do not ask please, but in the case in discussion, I thought the flipping made your image appear more harmonious then the original version. I might be wrong, as always medals have two faces and many will do not be agree with my point of view, but that's the beauty of this DDG. And photography. And like in general. Happy Holidays. |

It is a nice process, but personally I like more the original background. The black mask gives the impression of a staged image. Sorry personal opinion. |

Yes, it is interesting but I prefer the background with more information. |

Indeed a nice bird photo, I agree with Art, although I chose another road but basically trying to get the same result. I do not know if I succeeded. Happy Holiday to you. |

I agree with Kurt that this's a nice image that deserves much more attention, however. I chose, as always, the easy way. So with Color EFEX Pro I worked the Tonal range that in a few strokes took care of a few detail, the foreground and background as well as the mountains in the background. Happy Holidays. |

We are different, each one sees things in a different way as well as this image. Before reading Kurt and Art comment I did what my idea was of this image. Which, by the way in my opinion is better than you think. You marge did the right thing choosing, this photo. In any case here it is and Happy Holiday to you Marge as well. |

I agree with Art that the conversion gives that image more drama feeling. More that that I think is a great creative image. Personally with the conversion I changed the orientation of the image to a vertical, it reduces the negative space, a little bit too wide for my taste. And I added a tiny white line to define the canvas for an easy reading. Happy Holidays Sunandan. And congratulation for another great composed image. |

Kurt You did an interesting job with your image. The doe looks a bit scary but that is inevitable given is nature. Everything looks good colors, focus and composition. If any thing I would bring the subject a bit closer to the camera, but not too much, making sure in preserving the surrounding, that I think are essential in this type o images. Happy Holidays to you as well. |

Art, you caught the right image for the Holidays. Yes it reminds to me the shape and the wrapping of an Italian Panettone, a traditional Christmas Italian cake. The shape the colors and lines every thing looks perfect. So given that Happy Holidays to everybody. |

Kurt there were 5 playful cubs with the two mothers that morning. When I saw this guy emerging fro the two rocks and the tongue between his teeth I liked his face and pushed the trigger. This cub is not against the rock he's in a hole in between two rocks a very unusual positions and difficult to correct because, in reality only is face and hears are emerging from that hole. And beside, as I said they were playing and he didn't stay very long there for me to think what to do. I think that given the situation this image is pretty good, do not forget that I had the camera with the 300mm lens hand held, was seating on a all-terrain vehicle with three other photographers, believe me not a ideal situation to use that lens with a spirited subject. And what's best I remember those two eyes staring into my camera maybe a little bit surprised of the unusual situation. |

Yes, Art I think you adjusted the color and I like hat because has a less red, but it is not very close to the burned-like color of the nature around that was badly burned by a very harsh and scorching Summer coupled with a long dry season. My cub color has a more reddish hue which it might be matching closer the landscape around. The rocks had that dark brown color you see in the picture and I could not do anything to that without risking a washed out brown color. |
