Sylvia, thank you for your suggestions, but please don't be offended, it is not what I had in mind. But you did a great job anyway. My first intention was to show the windows patterns. The color was the second thing I was planning to show, unfortunately the light was the worst I could ask. We, shutterbugs, often say "a cloudy sky is better because we do not have shadows." That's a joke, a nice sunny sky is what you need for a good color image. That's it. Thank you. |

Regine, I apologize for the confusion, but unfortunately the Administrators (me) do not have control of the system. We barely are able to post what we receive from the members but everything else is on the shoulder of Tom our Web Master. Sorry again but I can't take any responsibility. Back to the image I think that the idea of conversion is the easier way to got, but I would not forget, totally, the color version as well. There's a lot of blue and some yellow in the sky and the rocks also shows some lite colors, and with saturation you can, also, give some color to the water. And why not trying a different composition, Centered Composition Symmetry or Diagonal and Triangles, giving more space the the context and more. I probably would give it a try. |

Thank you Sunandan for your really interesting image. Send in more of these images, I like to learn more about Indian culture and traditions. Beside a few adjustments like Kurtis and Art did, I think that a full image of that person would add a lot the story, only the detail of the image it doesn't tell me the whole story. But I'm sure that you have the whole imagine and it would be interesting to see it. Keep sending more of these images. Thank you. |

Great capture Marge. I think that you made a good image. I agree with Kurtis comments but not totally. I would redone the hairdos!😹😂😹 Seriously I cropped the image as well, yes the "square" cropping was a smart choice, the image is perfectly in focus. I slightly adjusted the colors. That's it. I know how difficult is to catch these birds. In my life I caught this type of bird only once. It was a similar pose, with the bird on a top of pole in the middle of a river. Nice. |

Welcome Sylvia. I like your image, very interesting. I personally would convert the image to B&W, as well as I would include more that the surroundings. As I said we concentrate too much on the main subject and little on the context. I think that this image with a stricter rule of 3rd could be a good candidate to enter in some salons. Try. Nice job. |

Kurt, I think that you have a ice action-photo. Excellent focus, good colors, the only thing I would add, in my opinion, is a little more view of the context. I think that is a kind of tendency of some photographers like me and you we tend to overplay the main subject and forget the world around it. That's all. Good job. |

Thank you guys for the comments. I agree with all of you, however. Sometimes things are the way they are and not much you can do after you pushed the trigger. In these long and unnerving months of "sheltering in place" I went through hundreds of my large (too) archives and reworked many of just post processed images. The reality I think is that if you want you can retouch, recrop, readjust light and more all images you took in your past. Unfortunately, the reality it'll be and will remain what you had in your viewfinder at the time you shot the image. Because don't forget we photographer have the same reactions, the same emotions of a painter finished job. If I recalled correctly that morning in Venice, during the night we had "acqua alta" You know perfectly what it is. The sky, you can see is a block of lead. More rain and maybe snow are in the forecast. The city was getting ready to celebrate the end of that year famous Carnevale di Venezia. I'm here trying to snap as many images as I can, trying to avoid crowds and water up to you knees, so sometimes, as a famous American Secretary of Defense once said "you go to war with the guns you have." And so, sometimes we take picture as they appear in our viewfinder. To get back to that image I think that no matter we can do the reality remains the image content. Those asymmetrical-symmetrical window, their shapes, they forms, they patterns. That's it. Thank you again for your comments. |

I must admit that I'm totally unfamiliar with the Jewish Religion and traditions, my comment will be purely on the technical side. And as usual Art, with your post processing technics, you hit the bulls eye. You were very good in isolating so much unneeded elements and turned a normal shot in a interesting one. the only minor problem I can see I think is the hand of the celebrant on the side a bit out of focus. Nice job Art. |
