Thank you, Maria, for your comments and critique. I agree with you. Too many times, when we see a shot, we tend to have tunnel vision and get in a hurry. We don't pay attention to the details and what's going on in the rest of the frame, another reason to use a tripod, to slow us down and look around in the frame.
I did some clone work to remove the bright leaf in the background and crop the image. I do like this. What do you think?
I found a note, I'm using for a bookmark, in a book I am reading. I had written this note to myself worth repeating to our members and something to think about. It goes like this.
It's never the camera that takes the photo; it's always the one holding the camera and the skill of that person that determines the final results.

Nice background making the flower jump out with great impact. Like David I may eliminate the background flower. I like the nice soft lighting. Would like to know more about the lighting which gives the image depth. |

Great detail in each petal with the sharp focus throughout. Shooting at f-32 you really have to back the background back more to throw it out of focus. I would prefer a different background that's darker maybe green. When you light from directly overhead the flower tends to be flat and lack depth. I like the composition with the space around the flower. |

Very well done. Like the tight crop. The rain drops add impact to the image. |

I like the composition in this image. I wish there were more DOF. In this kind of shot, I feel detail in the snow showing texture and patterns in the snow would really add to the image. |

You are so right David; I was shooting through leaves on both sides of the lens. They do not touch the lens but are about 1/2" away to make this look. |
