A beautiful shot. Like the composition and the height of the shot. Did you have to use a step ladder to gain the height? I don't think you can get a flower facing you as others have suggested. I think they all follow the sun. I feel a polarizer would have worked well on this shot. Great shot. |

Loved reading your info. about the flower. We don't have this type of flower where I live. Nice composition with a great background. Nice DOF and sharpness on the flower. Do you ever use a polarizer on your lens? I find the glare on the leaves a bit distracting. A polarizer will prevent this from happening. |

This is a nice group of three buds making a good composition.
Great background. Like the border you put around the image. Nice work. |

This image has an interesting look to it, good to see you are trying different approaches. Some of the reds looked blown out on the two petals on the right. Checked the histogram and those reds are blown out. These are areas where you lose detail. Reds are easy to get blown out. Do you look at the histogram in your camera? Take a shot, then check the histogram if anything is blown out you need to adjust the exposure (a minus bias), then shoot again. Look at the histogram until it's right. Do you know What caused the white streaks on the stamens? I would guess the reflection from the flash. The filaments on the stamens have a waxy surface. I like very much your idea on this at night. The composition is great. |

I feel you did well with the composition of the subject and a great background.
I agree with David about taking flowers in full sunlight, there is too much contrast for the camera to deal with. You will lose detail in the bright areas or detail in the shadows maybe both. I pulled up the histogram on this found some of the yellows are blown out. You cannot correct this in post. I also feel the leaf is too bright becoming a distraction. The yellows in the shade shot are much more pleasing and the leaves appear natural with good color. The flower appears sharp. |
