Thanks, Maria, for your comments. I wasn't sure what I should do with the bud, so your input was good. There were two one on each side on the top. I removed the one on the right side, but I agree maybe both should have been removed. I don't think they added anything to the image. Actually, a bit of a distraction to the main flower.
Barb said the flower appears a bit dark. Do you see it as a bit dark? Please let me know. |

Thanks, Barbara, for your comments. It's always good to hear others and their perspective on an image. This is how we learn and improve. I ask the other members to comment about the brightness of the flower. On my screen it looks right on but need to hear from others. I may need to adjust the brightness of my screen. Thanks |

This is a beautiful image, Maria. I believe this is Rose Mellow it's in the Hibiscus family of plants. It has very delicate petals. Beautiful detail in the petals, look like lace and even more so when wet. Love the background with a hint of green. Great lighting on the flower with the background going dark makes the flower stand out giving great impact to the image. What was the lighting?
Knowing me I like it flipped. With the stem to the right when I view the image my eye goes to the flower first thing, then my eye moves to the right, out the stem which tends to take me out of the image. With it flipped the stem now takes my eye into the image to the flower then to the rain drops. My eye now stays in the image. I feel this provides a little better composition but it's probably just me. See what you and others think.
This is a great image with great impact without any changes. Great images take a lot of thought, work and vision not too much about equipment. |

Nice shot, Barbara. I'm amazed how sharp the flower is with Lensbaby. Like how my eye moves from the white petals right to the yellow center. I don't mind the background the way it is maybe a bit darker would be better. Might give more impact to the image. I tried a tight crop to see what you and others think. I feel it moves the center of the flower off center and changes the composition. I feel it gives the image more impact. Interested what you think and what others think. Your image makes a nice study. |

Really like this, Diana. Sometimes spent flowers make good subjects and this is one that works well. Great composition. Love the curve in the stem which brings the eye up and around right into the flower. The flower held great color as it dried. Great shot. |
