I love the colors in this image. I would like to see more sense of movement with the stamens rotated a bit to create some diagonal movement to the image and the eye. I would crop so the stamens are more to the right. This allows the eye to move into and through the image before it stops on the focal point. This tends to use more of the total image to tell the story and not lose the right half.
An important feature in our cameras is the histogram. I was suspicious of the reds being blown out in this image; they looked it to me. So, I looked at the histogram and found the bright reds are blown out. Reds are the first to be blown out in an image. When something in the image is blown out there is no detail in that part, it is lost and cannot be fixed in post. To correct this, you have to shorten the exposure time. The histogram is one of the best features in a camera. I hope you all use the histogram in your camera. |

Beautiful sharp image with great colors. Wonderful background that complements the Irises very well. To my eye I actually like how the one flower stands all on its own above the rest drawing attention it itself. It sets itself apart from the rest and becomes the main focal point in the image. Now for me to be a bit nitpicky I would tone down the bright spot along the stem of the main flower near the base. If I study this image for a while my eye goes, there.
This is a great shot, very nice. |

I like this a lot. Nice soft colors. Like how the center of the flower is sharp and the way it is facing.
To my eye you could crop off the bottom. With the petals cropped on both sides and the top I would crop the petals on the bottom. The space on the bottom is not needed in the composition. I would also darken the one petal on the top of the main flower, it's white and my eye wants to go there. It's the lightest area in the image. I would like to see what the others think of my crop.
Very nice work and image. |

Love the colors in this shot. Dahlias are great flowers, they are so perfect. To my eye I would like to see the center of the flower sharp or the water drops. I would like to see something sharp for my eye to focus on and come to rest. I may be wrong, but I think that's the idea with Lensbaby. It's an interesting story of how Lensbaby got its start. |

Lensbaby for sure has a learning curve and I feel you did good with this close-up of the dahlia. Interesting pattern of the petals with their twists and turns. I noticed after looking at the original and the final image the bottom half on both images is very sharp and the top half is not sharp. I know this is the Lensbaby look, I have several Lensbaby lens. To my eye I would like to see the middle sharp and all four sides with the soft look and not the bottom half. I feel this would put more emphasis on the center and give better balance to the image. |
