Thank you for the info. Good to see your using a tripod. Why auto ISO? Don't think you would need to use auto ISO when on a tripod. I like to keep my ISO as low as possible. Beautiful shot. |

I really like what you did with this. I like how the flower stands out more from the background. I would remove the larger green leaf on the left. I don't feel it contributes anything to the image. I feel it pulls my eye from the other two leaves which are important to the overall balance and composition. I think you did very well with the changes you made. I'm just one member, I would like to see how the other members feel about your changes. |

Hi Fran, like this very much. I think a flip would work well with this tulip. This would bring the eye in from the lower left corner on the stem then up to the flower. Nice image. |

Thank you, Melanie, for your comments. I do a lot of stacks, but this was not one of them. Depth of field is always an issue when making one shot with a natural background. The background is so important in an image, and they must not distract from the image. This is not an easy task when you need to get enough of the subject sharp and the background out of focus. With all my shots I do not replace backgrounds in post.
To my eye the flower is sharp from front to 2/3's back. At f-5.6 that's good and still keep the background out of focus. I had to be careful due to the distance the flower was from the background. |

I really like this image. Sharp where it needs to be sharp. Love how you worked the right side. Love the thin border, which puts such a nice finishing touch to the image. Would like to see more info about your lens and camera settings. These are important to share for teaching purposes. Great shot. |

I too like the flip, but I don't care for crop on the petals on the left side. I would like to see a different background it's too close to the color of the flower. You can never go wrong with a darker green background with flowers. I feel the lighting is too flat with the light coming straight in from the front. Flowers usually look better with the light coming in from an angle somewhere around 45 degrees. |

Love the composition. Even though the entire flower is not in focus this works because the center is sharp. This is a must in this image. I feel you could crop about one inch off the right side. Nice image. |

This flower is a Zinnia. I like the detail in the petals and the detail on the underside. Would like to see a crop on the top and maybe an inch off the bottom. This would move the flower out of the middle of the image and provide better composition. Like the background. |

I agree with the others on this.
I like the composition with the stem coming from the left. It's hard to go this close, hand hold, and have a tack sharp image. Was this auto focus? It's best to manual focus and have control where the focus point is located. I would like to see a little more space in the right side. Sometimes the back side of a flower is more interesting than the front. |
