As I recall, I set the aperture at F/5.6 because of low light condition and moving subject. I think this is a reason for the blurred part of the leaf. F/8 or smaller would be better. I usually prefer cropping the picture into a 2/3 rectangular frame for landscape format since this is the most pleasing layout for human eyes. I believe most camera sensors have similar proportion. Blackground is part of the picture. a monotonous background seems boring as you can see at the two osprey photographs I took this morning. |

Thank you for your all comments. Murphy and Karen's suggestion is a bright idea. I admit I overlooked this problem, which could be simply fixed.

With a smaller aperture such as F/8 or F/11 you can get more details of these leaves.

You have a nice picture with a simple subject. The pencil at a right position makes a great composition. |
