I like the bee as well. The spread of the wings provides interest and a smattering of bright colors. I agree with the crop Dick suggests because it would pull the eye toward the flower and bee |

This image has great composition and the expression on the anole is great. A diagonal presentation give this image a dynamic component. And of course this is the most appropriate background. Nice handling of the different shades of green. |

Interesting how different the two images are this month, yet they are the same flower with the same intention. The detail in the stigma and anthers is well done and the background is perfect. Great image! |

I like the symmetry and outline of white in the center pinecone. The center pinecone appears a bit soft. If this were mine, I might consider darkening the background just a bit. The color is great and suits the pinecones, but it's bight and shifts focus to itself. |

Although there are a couple of areas where the focus stacking wasn't as sharp as it could be this is a great first attempt. The depth represented by this flower & background would probably require 15 to 20 slices. I think the image needs to be angled since the horizontal direction of the flower doesn't allow for a dynamic feel. |

This is an absolutely lovely image. From composition to color palette there is noting I would change. I too appreciate you explaining your workflow. |

The repetitive pattern is interesting. I might consider doing something abstract with the image through Topaz, along with cropping off the sides. Just a thought.. |

There are a couple of considerations I would think about for this image. I might crop in close to the center of the flower since that portion is tack sharp and has an interesting texture create by the pollen. The other thought I have is to crop a little off the left to bring more attention to the main flower. I like how you handled the leaves and flower petals as they both show detail. The stamens being out of focus bothers me as well. Take a look at group 6. Hibiscus was an unplanned theme where the stamens became the main subject. |

Nice shot Tom. You use sepia often and it coordinates well with your themes. This is a nice still life and tells a story of a time gone. Do you feel the PSA course on still life photography has helped you achieve the images you envision? I've always struggled with still life looking "natural" so I was wondering if the course is adding value to your photography. Good job adding the candle back in. |

Both the color version and monochrome are great shots although the monochrome really adds to the feeling of being cold. For the color version, I would consider cropping out the trees too so the geometric shapes of the town would be even more apparent. The position of the church is well done, but the one detail in the color version I really like is the yellow car driving into the center of the image. Great shot. |

This is a nice shot and promotes the theme when converted to monochrome. It's interesting is that many descendants are still in the area and participate in the ceremony. Scandalous as it was, the railroad changed lives forever. |

This is such an interesting image. It looks as though the smoke is a creature blowing fire and lighting the citronella. I agree there are times when you need to amuse yourself in a situation and in this case you produced a fun image. |

This is an interesting image where ICM is successful. Knowing these are children yet not being identifiable adds a sense of mystery and intrigue. Tonality and color work well as does the composition. Very well done. |

Peter, the graphic nature of the snow leopard is really pleasing and certainly provides the feeling of an ambush ready to happen. I don't mind the change in eye color although enhancing the original green of the eyes would be ok as well. There is a small yellow patch on the Lion's left eyelid - not sure of that's the natural contour of his eye or not. Your composition is nice the way the lion's the head is tilted. Good image! |

This image sparks so many thoughts - social media giants, fortune 1000s - yet amid the chaos the individual stands strong. The choice to have the lone seed be a color with the other seeds as monochromatic was an interesting decision. It allows for delineation between the group vs. the individual, and putting focus onto the little guy. What a great shot and really creative. |

A dirty birdbath where you managed to create a beautiful image. The colors of the leaves are fantastic and correlate beautifully with the sky. The little bubbles and leaf composition make the image dynamic. As Gerald notes above, it's a strong monochrome image as well. Nice job in spotting this. |
