Your treatment of this waterlily is lovely and you have a great lens for this type of image. Of course I have the same lens, so I may be biased..
I agree with the comments already posted that the leaf in the upper right is somewhat distracting. In my opinion you have two images here; the bud and the open bloom. The post processing you've done on these two flowers is absolutely wonderful and difficult to achieve. Beautifully done! |

Jim, the capture of this lily is well done. I too think the upper part of the image is distracting - particularly the upper right. If this were my image, I would consider brining down the brightness and highlights. Darkening the image a bit would bring up the texture and bring out the beautiful furls of the petals that you've captured. It would also help to highlight the almost "on fire" quality in the center of the flower. |

Hi Janet. This is a very nice image of the egrets. I've lived in Florida over 7 years and am still challenged by the birds. My budget doesn't lend itself to the correct lenses either. The composition is great and I like the nest in the foreground giving the image context. The eyes are sharp, the background is just right, but I think my favorite part of the image is how the fuzz sticks up on their heads. Nicely done. |

Your frog is so well done, and I do believe it took a lot of time and patience. The composition is great and I particularly like the way the frog hold on to the branch. We get these on the windows when we've had rain several days in a row and they drive my dogs crazy. I admire your perseverance - well done! |

Your choice of flowers is nice. Zinnias are always happy to look at and can have some interesting shapes. The arrangement you've created in this image is nicely composed. I agree with Dick that moving focus to the lower part of the flower would bring the eye more toward the center and strengthen the image. The one piece that I find distracting is that the edge of the flower holder is higher on the left side, causing a feeling that the holder is tilting to the right. Since no one else mentioned it, perhaps it's just me. Overall a nice image. |

Your composite work is amazing. I would never have guessed the butterfly was an addition. I do think the background is a little busy, but I really like the boarder. |

I like the final version of the image. Your colors are well captured and the black background is a good choice. The leaf that was removed might be able to stand alone as a macro shot since the base of the leaf has a lot going on. |

I find this image to be a little too green. ICM isn't always successful but you have applied an interesting perspective by moving slowly. The detail is nicely done. |

I don't find the speckles to be distracting as they could be intentional. Is it snowing, raining? who can tell - I personally like that. There isn't a place for me to stay focused though except on the leaf to the far right. But the textures, tonal range and variation of the leaves are nicely captured. |

Hi Carol. I like the image very much including the orientation you have chosen. The stem is heavy, but I do believe a slight crop at the bottom would help that. The iris is presented with botanical overtones and although graphic, it maintains the botanical feel. Nicely done! |

Hi Tom. Your rendition did bring down some of the harshness in the center, but it seems to have lost the delicate pinkish hue on the petals. While I don't mind this version, I did like the way the center had seemed to be on fire. |

Thanks! Since I have both pink and red flowers, I will put-stack the next attempt and see what my result will be. |

You have done a wonderful job creating this image. Your creativity in seeing the potential of the flowers is impressive. The texture you chose really lends itself to the image and the composition is perfect for the words. Well done. |

I agree with the comments written. This looks like the photos I've seen with my father in WWII. |

I like the perspective also although I think you have a little more on the left than the right which seems to skew the image a bit. To make the columns whiter I would play in camera raw since it's non-destructive. I would try upping the white slider and lowering the highlights slider. I might also play with the contrast to see if that would provide a better tonal range.
A more controlled approach would be to use the eyedropper tool. Open the levels window: Image > Adjustments > Levels. The Background image needs to be highlighted in the Layers menu. Click on the little white eyedropper, then click on the spot you want to whiten. It should turn white. To adjust, go back up to the Levels menu and use the slider. |

Nice image. Your capture of all the wrinkles and the heavily lidded eye seems to reflect an animal who has lived long and seen much. I might crop a little from the bottom, although that would be a personal preference. Very nice image. |

Queen Elizabeth always presented herself in an elegant and refined manner. Truly an end of an era.
As for your image Wes, I really like how you've handled the background and the giraffe itself. In color, the background was too distracting. Reducing the saturation and converting to B&W works so well here. The vignette works well too.
This image brings me back to a Bronx Zoo trip we made many years ago. The giraffe was inside in a special enclosure since she had just given birth. The baby and mom were easily seen in their enclosure, but no one dared to get close. Mom was fierce. The baby was rather large, but the mom giraffe was huge.
This is a nice image - great job! |

The S curve of the flower is really well captured and does have a somewhat coquettish feel. The background isn't bad at all. What I would consider if this image were mine is to slightly lighten the one area in the lower bud that is most prominent, lighten the stamen in the bloomed flower and lessen the grayish hue in the front of the blossom, making it a bit more brown. To me that would provide a more botanical feel. These would be small changes might make a big difference. All that said, I really like your image. |

I've never tried light painting although I've seen many different kinds of patterns and applications. I must agree with Gerald that they aren't my thing, but find it an interesting was to add interest to an image. |

Very nice capture and you can be proud you went the extra mile (or should I say 100 yards) to get the shot. Good thing you stopped in time..
The detail in the rocks and the colors captures are nicely done. The little blow out at the top is a bit distracting but other than that, it's a great shot. Glad you're ok. |

Judith, your handling of the image is amazing. What a good eye to see the potential. I like Gerald's rendition as well since I believe the strength of the image can handle the strong tones and the graphic nature appeals to me. But as said, that is personal taste. Nice job! |

I apologize for being so late to the party. I do enjoy this image and agree with the above comments that the image flows rather than entraps. With that in mind, I like the original orientation better. Seeing the potential in the image is very creative. Nice! |
