Nicely done portrait and converting it to mono works very well. The advice given in the comments is appropriate, but since I do not take many portraits, I can't be much help. I agree with Wes - a 9 sounds right. |

This turned out so well! I will take your lead and try again with my marbles as you have inspired me. The little guys do look like asteroids and the big "planets" are realistic. (As imagination would allow.) Very nice. |

I too feel bad for this poor animal with the size and weight of those horns! Born and raised in the northeast, the Oklahoma references are lost on me, but certainly not the Willie Nelson song. I was teased without mercy when it was revealed I had the Willie Nelson double CD set of greatest hits... |

I like the creativity and would never have guessed this to be toilet paper rolls. It looks like a scan or an ultra-sound. I might up the contrast and take "down" the white background a bit, but that would be all. As far as having a story, sometimes an image lends itself to its own story and I think this image does that. It lets the mind travel to different possibilities of what it might be. Nice job! |

It's tough to get a get a good angle so I appreciate you mentioning it. Between the onlookers, the position of the artists and the sun, it's a challenge. At least this artist was assigned a premium spot. The more seasoned artists get a section of road that remains in the shade most of the day. The more amateur the artist, the more sun they have to endure. At least this time of year it's usually pleasant weather. |

I liked them both, but I think the color is more consistent with the idea of the festival. Removing the distractions from fellow artists has to be done in post processing because the artists were close together. |

I do think the vignette improves the image. The other chalk artist works were close to one another so it didn't lend itself to images that were free of distraction. |

Hi Peter. Nice capture over in Sanibel! The change in direction of the birds does add a more dynamic feel to the image. To my eye, the angle of the birds looks as though they're sitting on a beach looking up at the sky - particularly the front one. I agree that the dark outlines should be eliminated or softened, but overall, the image is an interesting perspective. |

I wouldn't have even considered working this image, but you have transformed a plain brown photo into an interesting image that really holds my attention. I enlarged it to see more of the details. The horizontal flip and color choices are well done. The other interesting part is how the shadows at first look to be against a wall. But looking more closely, they look embedded in the landscape, yet add a dynamic element. Really nicely done. |

Amazing colors! This is a great capture that was worth the search. Overall I might crop a bit off the top, and for reducing the highlights on the water, I would use the technique Karl describes as it really has the potential for great results. Wonderful capture! |

Very creative! Choosing the darkened background and blurring it a bit was a great choice. The smoke looks like rising spirits from another world and the pilings only add to the mood. I not only appreciate the description you provided, but also the picture of your set-up. I've always wanted to explore smoke and this has motivated me to try it. |

Freddie this is a great abstract. I like the "eyes" created and the colors. I might bring down the white a little and pop up the gold - maybe the red, but then maybe not. The composition is well done; with the tan and white in the uppermost left corner, I find it circles me back into the image. |
