After your knot image a couple of months ago, I looked everywhere for my "knot board". It had so many tied knots and a description underneath. No luck though.
I'm going to be the outlier here and say that I don't think the background works as well as it could. Perhaps using a more "organic" background? Something darker and a little less finely textured maybe. |

This is why people have bird feeders in the winter, although this little guy does look well fed. I don't miss the ice storms either, with broken trees and the danger to those below when the ice began to slide off buildings. I like the image a bit brighter to show off the crystal component of the ice. The bird does have a nice hint of color, but the contrast has been brought out in both Jennifer's and Russ's images. Either way, this was a good capture in that type of weather. |

I agree with you that taking out the two skaters on the right unbalances the image. I'm not a fan of that particular boarder either, but it will print well. You're successful in making it look colder, as the original looks wet rather than cold. Carrying down the mist over the building may help to increase the cold. |

l too liked your last months image w/out the gondola/cables. Having the cables vanish in the clouds adds intrigue/interest, but I agree that adding some drama to the sky enhances the image. A crop off the left and bottom would perhaps give more focus to the disappearing cables. Either way, it's always a daunting thought to be that high up and be dependent upon one cable... |

Auto shows are always hard to shoot with the crowds and the lighting. We have a couple of annual shows here, the biggest being the annual corvette show. People are everywhere and although held outside, the lighting remains challenging.
The mono is better than the color version for this purpose. I'm thinking maybe leave the bumper in, but do some additional cloning. I had a hard time finding you in the original color version. |

I agree his ears get lost in the fence, and the fence is awful. It's always playtime for Apollo - from the minute he wakes up until he falls asleep at night. I'll try to retake him and see if I can do better with the background. |

It is horrible. I took the shot at a distance because he still acts like a puppy. If I came any closer, he would get overly excited and run to me. But the image became much too small. Probably the best thing to do here is retake the image. |

Thanks Tom - I tried so take his photo so many times but he's still a puppy so it's tough. I tried everything with the fence, but for some reason had a terrible time. I tried to blur it, bring down the saturation, nothing worked. The crop helps. Probably best to have started over! |

The image is beautiful and elicits the feeling of mist and cool weather. The uncropped version provides an open feeling and may do well converted to B&W also. But this is artist's choice. I agree with Diana - break the rules here and enjoy it. |

This is a really interesting shot Vinod. I like the silhouette of the insect because it's so detailed in it's simplicity. The curve of the base is great, but the the little hairs coming out of it make this even more interesting. As mentioned, this is very artistic and nicely done. |

Nice orchid image! I've tried shooting through spheres but just can't get away from the reflections and glare. You did really well here. Probably the only comment I have has already been mentioned, and that would be to tone down the area outside on the right. Creative way to shoot an orchid from a different perspective.

Your photostacking ability shines here. This is an interesting image and is successful in showcasing the different angles, giving no hints as to what the item actually is. The texture in each angle is good and provides interest. As Nancy mentions, the background really. works.
My first inclination was to ask why you left in the image the slightly lighter area on the upper right. It doesn't distract, but isn't like the rest either. The image is dynamic and gives the impression of movement - very interesting shot.

This is such an interesting image! At first I thought you had frozen a pile of bells with the back ones being under the ice. Then as I looked more closely, it almost looks like you were on the ground taking this shot during a storm. The detail in some while the others are less focused, the randomness of the bell directions, the colors all make this a happy and fun image. Really good job! |

Jeff - this is a great image and love the composition. Makes me feel like I'm super tiny and this is my world..! You've captured the texture on the top of the mushroom caps, and even a bit of the underside. I think your trade off for the exposure triangle was very successful. The sense of depth is well done as is the capture of the colors and how they fade to white at the edges. This is a great image. |
