Converting to mono was the best choice here. I agree that darkening the back wall did cause some loss of focus on the bicycles. It seems that my snow images show and score better here in Florida than up north. My guess is that no one wants to be reminded of the mess and work it causes. |

I agree with lightening the brickwork and adding sky interest. I have a tough time changing out skies so good luck with it! |

This is a nice calming image. I like the slight tilt of the branch, and making it monochrome was a good choice. The only thing I can think of to make the water droplets stand out would be to isolate the drops, make them darker and add contrast. That said I'm not sure it's necessary. The small blossom above the main subject seems to say that the story isn't over.
If this were my image, I would have a small print made and place it where I would see it first thing in the morning. It would be a nice way to start the day. |

The dark reflection of the ranger seems appropriate to me. It evokes the sentiment of war and sacrifice. My father was a Marine in WW II and although he spoke infrequently about the war, when he did talk about it, I always sensed deep emotion. He told me he remembered how it felt to be in a foxhole on Christmas Eve hearing some of the guys singing "I'll be home for Christmas". So to me, the darkness of the reflection is just right. |

I'm thinking you're right about the light falling off. The light is very different in Florida than it had been in NJ and even after 3 years, I'm still getting used to taking images outdoors.
I noticed how blue the afternoon light was the other day - was it that blue before or am I just becoming more aware of it?

This is a bright red Gerbera daisy that provided some nice contrast. I darkened the background, then used Nik silver effect pro for conversion. I used strong contrast to pull out more detail. I tried some smoothing to reduce the grain, but I wasn't happy with the result.
It still isn't what I had in mind, although I'm not sure what I'm looking for. Maybe that's the issue - I don't have a clear vision on this image. |

Nice job as usual. I like the grey line marker as it adds to interest. Sharpness is great and the subject is simple. A little noisy on the background, but a great minimalist image. |

This is certainly a bright cheerful image. I agree with the above comments and I too would have probably left more of the beads on the right. There are a lot of sweeping lines and so many directions pulling focus. The bright colors and curves of the yarn along with the bright bracelet make the image busy.
Charles makes a good point that more is often less in macro, but that can also spill over to other types of photography. Someone can take a great landscape image, I stand next to them, take the same image from the same vantage point, yet mine looks like a pot luck stew. I wonder why that is... |

Angela you are correct - not everyone has this type of pasta at home. I agree that the image needs to be sharper, and I'm thinking a more well defined focal point. Good color. |

It's always a decision as to how to approach an image when planning focus stacking. This is a very nice result and provides nice depth. I learned focus stacking watching https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIh4v4RPQ70.
Nicely done! |

I really like this image. Good balance and the slight rust on the left lower part of the burner adds to the image although perhaps it could be sharper. Also, I might lower the brightness on the left between the 2 left gas jets. It's creative and unusual. |
