Good image, and I like the crop as it pulls the focus to the farmer. It seems the sun is getting high. I found that between a harsh sun and the attempt to bring out the detail of the animals was difficult. The sepia tone helps. |

I like the color image better as well. The otter's backside melds together a bit too much so like Tom, I'm not sure what he (she?) is doing back there. The raised paw is nice and you caught the otter with a sweet look on its face. Not sure it's feeling sweet; it would be fascinating to know what they're thinking.
We traveled to Berkely CA. for my nephew's wedding and visited Monterey where we saw these furry creatures. They just stare at everyone staring at them. Very different than the manatees that perform for you when you snorkel or dive here on the east coast. |

As for the Cane Toad, they're native to central & south America, Mexico, and extreme southern Texas. They were brought to Florida in 1936 to control sugar cane pests, but became invasive. They're poisonous for their entire life and gigantic - usually about 6 inches long but can grow up to 10 over their 15 year life span. I am not a fan! |

I agree with you Diana. As I look at this now I'm thinking that the vignette is a bit too heavy. Attached is the HDR image I was playing with before I converted to mono. |

This image with the angle of the boat, the rope along the side, the position of the oars and of course the two men selling their goods really provide a mood. the expressions are well captured as well. If the boat had been on a straight horizontal plane the image wouldn't have the impact it does now. I might bring down the whites in some of the articles in the boat particularly by the rower's feet so as not to distract. Well done. |

Lisa-I'm visiting from group 32 & 65 and just had to comment. You're image is well done and I agree with you that the pre-dawn street light provides an interesting warm yellow cast. I think the street gate provides additional interest. The desolation of this old building creates a mood, and the blue sign with the white arrow is a great addition. Great image. |

I agree with you Mary I found this assignment to be very challenging as well. 100 slices - that's a lot of slices. Your choice of various vegetable seeds is a good one. The difference of textures, shapes and sizes work well.
The seeds looked a little high so I cropped a bit off the bottom and also the right side, sharpened a little more and increased the contrast. What do you think?

Nice image Janos! The pepper is really nicely done and the textures you captured are fascinating. I like how the round balls are two-toned and wrinkly on the surface. The image seems grounded with the cluster go pepper on the bottom right. I'm thinking the right side could be a bit darker, which would bring out even more detail. The red gives it a bit of a pop. Great image to frame and hang in the kitchen. |

The image is great. The sharp and crisp colored facets of the beads are clean and pleasant. Your choice to move the central thread channel was a wise one. Without the variation of angle I don't think the image would work. Spacing is well done and the reflections add depth. The only thing I might do would be to bring down the bright surface areas on the center, dark green and red beads.
You mentioned patience and I can see how this was a lesson in patience. Really nice job. |
