Hi Anu
I agree that you're very creative with leaf painting, but I do agree with Janos that there's a lot going on here. In any image there needs to be a central focus point. There are so many elements to see, there's no where to rest my eyes. Almost any piece of this image could be cropped and become a story in itself. The image is nice and sharp and also has good depth. I agree with Mary that an adjustment of lighting would make the image stronger. Less intensity or using a diffuser. I played a bit with the image, but couldn't do too much with the hot spots. I tend to under expose because I don't do well adjusting hot spots. |

Hi Charles
Very nice image. I think you did a very good job toning down the distracting highlights and removing the leaves seen in the original image. There is a black spot on the bottom left leaf, and on the bottom of second cupped ruffle (from the bottom) isn't as sharp as the rest of the image. But that's nitpicking. I agree with Mary that the image has nice composition, and I find it tranquil. Nice work.
I'll be working with my ring flash this weekend as I really need the practice. |

Hi Erick
Nice choice for an image. I agree with Mary that the image is soft. You don't mention if this is a hand held image and I think knowing that is important. If I had to take this image hand held, it wouldn't just be soft, it would be unrecognizable. A faster shutter speed, or tripod would help make the image crisp. In addition, cropping to isolate one or three blossoms would remove the bright blue in the background which is a bit distracting. You have a really good eye for interesting subject matter. |

Hi Mary
Your image choice is really nice and the reflection is interesting. I thought it was just a bit blown out so I took your image, brought down the highlights and added a bit of saturation, contrast and selective hue with Nik software. Love the pinks and darkening the reflection was a really good idea as it had the desired effect. |

Great true macro image! Colors are rich and full and the depth of scales are really well done. If anything were to be done, I might try to sharpen the nose a bit and put a very small boarder around the image to contain the left side. As far as smiling...not so sure about that, he (she?) looks a bit grumpy, but no doubt this reptile is definitely posing for you. Great image. |
