11 May 25 Comment Hi everyone: Thanks for your kind comments on "Dew Drops", very much appreciated... May 28th
11 May 25 Reply Hi Sheldon: I darkened down the background a small amount as per your suggestion. I do think it improved the impact and the dew drops stand out a little more.
Thanks for the tip... cheers.

11 May 25 Comment Hi Henry: Two very interesting pictures of the same subject that are very different from each other with their message to the viewer.

The original color version is all about dramatic sunrise cross lighting and deep shadows on the shaded side of the rocks.

The monochrome conversion takes a far different path. The lighting to me comes across as cloudy bright with a lot of detail in the rock formations, a good nature study.

I like this composition, seems like you have cropped some from the bottom and in doing so creates more of a semi panoramic composition which fits this scene very well. Also noticed you have removed some distractions in the sand which makes this landscape to appear very pristine.

The lone cloud in the sky adds a good point on interest.

Simply an excellent monochrome conversion very well processed and photographed in original color.

11 May 25 Comment Hello Nenette: The monochrome conversion fits this scene perfectly with the artistically shaped old tree against the cloudy sky.

The Seagull is perfectly placed in the scene and provides a great point of interest, and really adds essence to the picture.

11 May 25 Comment Hello Sheldon: An excellent story telling image with a lot of impact and mood. Just the couple alone in their thoughts.

The lighting is dramatic with the main light source from near the bottom of the picture. Then another point of interest is the walls in the background running at different angles, not just straight across the frame. Good job of recognizing the possibilities for an interesting picture.

11 May 25 Reply Hello Henry: Thank you for your positive comments on Dew Drops, very much appreciated. Will follow your suggestion and make a print of this version.

Have several other spider web and dew drop pictures in my files, A good winter time or rainy day project to convert these to monochrome.

63 May 25 Reply Hi Everyone: To me this image of two beverage cans was designed in post processing to be a low light type of picture; the low light and monochrome conversion I think conveys the message the photographer wanted to present. No; it does not have rockum sockum colors and brilliant lighting, I do not think that was the makers intent here. May 30th
63 May 25 Comment Hi Xiao: Your Honey Bee picture is an excellent example of the use of selective focus in flower photography done very well. The bee and some of the front flowers are in sharp focus, the flowers in the background are in soft focus and create a very pleasant mood for the entire scene.

The warm rich colors of light green, yellow and orange-red all work together to make this an excellent selective focus flower picture with Bee. KUDOS.

63 May 25 Comment Hi Pierre: You have photographed the yellow petals and beetle well, the Dandelion and Spotted Lady Beetle are sharp in focus. Sometimes it is hard to show sharp detail in yellow flower petals, and you have succeeded well in this effort.

The bottom out of focus grasses are somewhat of a distraction in your image, may I offer some suggestions.
I would diffuse the bottom grasses and leave the flower and beetle very sharp. Using your select tool select the bottom grasses to be worked on, then in filters use your blur tool and select Gaussian Blur and blur the bottom grasses. This tool is adjustable so use the slider to attain just the right amount of blur to achieve the look you want in the bottom grasses. It takes some practice to use this blur tool successfully.

63 May 25 Comment Hi Charlie: A very creative idea of using pop cans as a subject, something I would never have thought of doing.

Photographed using a high degree of expertise in the photography process to achieve this low light mood with success. You have provided a base for the cans to sit on which is important, then the monochrome conversion fits this scene very well to attain your desired mood in this very creative and interesting presentation.

63 May 25 Comment Hi Alane: I am always intrigued with hand made items from other countries such as this African beaded hat, and can appreciate the time and effort involved in creating these items.
The hat is sharp in detail, the beads show up well. As presented the hat seems to float in space, wish you could have shown it on a real African person or at least on a table of some kind to provide a base for the hat to sit on.

63 May 25 Comment Hi Neal: You have tried your very best to record the Mantis in a very difficult photography situation. You have managed good sharpness on the Mantis however you have background distractions. The top of the flower stalk is out of focus to the point of becoming a distraction.

If you wanted you could improve the background and other distractions with some careful post processing work and it would improve an interesting image of the Mantis.

63 May 25 Comment Hi Barbara: I do agree with Pierre regarding not to crop in so tightly, the bee needs a little more breathing room around it.
Background is a little busy but this Antelope Horn flower has a lot of detail and you show the natural habitat well. You have attained very good sharpness on the entire bee front to back and the wings show great detail.

You mention the image is "greatly cropped". In doing so you now have digital noise in the entire picture, it is quite evident in the upper left hand corner appearing as a textured look. This can be removed using your noise reduction tool in your post processing program.

75 May 25 Reply You mention construction in the area; somehow they messed things up so the river does not drain like it used to. Just my thoughts. Cheers. May 19th
75 May 25 Reply Hi again Ray: you are so right in your comment "you never know what you may find in a garden". Over the years I have found many wonderful scenes right at home to photograph in our landscaping and flower garden. May 11th
75 May 25 Comment Hi Mo: In the short time you have been part of our group 75 I have been amazed at your creativity with coming up with a very different approach and always creative in presentation.

This Sunflower image is different than any Sunflower image I have seen to date, I know you planned it to be this way.

75 May 25 Reply Hi Ray: Thanks for your input, it is always appreciated.

I left the blue flowers at the edges of the frame to give the viewer the illusion that the flower group could have been much larger in size that what is shown in the picture.

75 May 25 Comment Hi Alison: A good nature story with the dead snags in the middle of the river, I wonder if the river level is high due to spring run off to surround the trees.

Very dramatic lighting with the puffy lower clouds adding interest. The dark gray-blue upper sky appears to be dark stormy foreboding clouds like getting ready to rain.

Nice natural scenery picture.

75 May 25 Comment Hi Ray: Alison stated it very well with the small water droplets looking like diamonds. Just super sharp detail in the middle of the rose flower, it does not get any better than that.

You have composed the rose very well, the two petals on the right side of the frame add extra points of interest and also form a good stopping point to keep ones eye from wandering out of the frame.

The square format fits the rose flower well, a nice close in portrait.

75 May 25 Comment Hi Vincent: A very interesting flower. While the featured version with the black background is certainly okay from a technical standpoint I prefer the original. The original tells a nature story and provides more of a sense of scale with the various types of leaves that surround the round grouping individual yellow flowers.

The featured version with the black background seems to float in space where the original is nestled in a grouping of leaves that provide a good base for the round flower.

Just my thoughts...
