Hi Shaji: You have presented an image with a good nature story regarding this colorful moth. Image is reasonably sharp in detail with a shutter speed of 1/160 second and using f/16 aperture to gain as much depth of field as you could. You had your ISO boosted to ISO 2000, so likely did not want to boost it higher yet to gain a faster shutter speed.
Regarding composition: I am aware other cultures view composition differently than we do here in the United States and Charles has mentioned your subject is somewhat centered in the frame by our standards. He has cropped it from the left to remove it from being too dead centered. Composition is so very subjective depending on cultures world wide.

Hi Priscilla: Very colorful picture, like your cropping job, it is a creative departure from the norm. Barbara's crop on the small yellow flower on the bottom is well taken. Like the little flower bud at the left between the two flowers, a nice addition. |

Hi Barbara; The out of focus green lawn provided a nice backdrop for the Lily flower. The seed pods, unopened flower buds and the opened very colorful Lily flower are all very sharp in detail. The thin white border frames the scene nicely. |

Hi Charlie: An interesting subject well photographed. The pistachios with their various colors are arranged in an interesting design, the light gray textured glass was the perfect color background for the subjects. |

Hi Alane: A good human interest picture. Using ISO 10,000 I see you were challenged with a low light situation to work with. You did well in a low light setting to even capture the picture as well as you did. There is a light halo around the hands, no certain what is causing this. |

Hi Neal: Another good example of the use of focus stacking to attain excellent sharpness in a high magnification subject with technical excellence. Really good composition with the main stem running on a diagonal from bottom left to the upper right, also the main stem does not enter or leave the frame in a corner, in my humble opinion this is to be avoided. Excellent cross lighting from the lower right, the shadows caused by the stems and the insects on the leaf
itself adds a good point of interest. Kudos on excellent work !!

Hi Judy: Welcome to Flower Group #75. Your Peach Rose picture has the kind of soft mood I enjoy in flower photography, what I really enjoy is the out of focus background which contains the same colors as the Peach Rose flower. It appears you made the photo on a cloudy day with soft lighting which was ideal for this picture, there is no harsh lighting or black shadows present.
From a composition standpoint the end of the flower petal is a little too close to the edge of the frame at the left side and bottom, would suggest you allow a little more "breathing room" in this situation. |

Hi Marge: Pleased you liked the Tiger Lilies. Photo was shot on our back deck in early evening. The house was on one side and woods on the other, so the light is from clouds above. I also used a Photo-flex soft-gold reflector to reflect some light into the flowers. Background was green trees which I darkened down in post processing to make the lilies stand out. |

Hi Charlie: Textbook perfect in all ways. Your color pallete is so very nice as the colors fit together perfectly. I think the placement of your flower within the frame is ideal, it is biased slightly to the right side of the frame as you have a little more empty space on the left than to the right. Very sharp details in the subject. Excellent Work !! |

Hi Allen: Welcome to Flower Group #75, looking forward to more of your creative flower photography.
Really well done selective focus rendition of the blue and yellow iris which carries a lot of soft focus mood. Composition is well done with the yellow part of the iris flower creating a good lead in line right to the spider which is your center of interest. The spider is acceptably sharp, however I think it could even be a bit sharper with some post processing work. You could select out the spider and add some sharpness to it without effecting the soft focus of your flower. |

Hi Marge: Welcome to Flower Group #75.
Really like your very creative abstract type image and the artistic design of your composition. The red color adds a lot of drama and impact, and then your lighting technique brings it all together. A good point of extra interest is in the upper left corner with the very dark red leaves in the background with that little hint of dark green. Very Good Work !! |

Hi Dan: Welcome to group #75, am looking forward to viewing your work in coming rounds. The monochrome conversion is an interesting departure from the ordinary. Charles has pointed out some situations in your poppy picture so will not duplicate most of his comments. You have chosen an interesting subject to work on. In my opinion the lower right area has some really bright spots in the background that are quite distracting; the background is the upper left area is a lot smoother without any distractions and much more pleasing. |

Hi Vincent: Thanks for volunteering to be our administrator for Flower Group #75, it is much appreciated.
While your close in picture is okay I like your original better, let me explain. I like the sense of space in the original, the out of focus green background with the out of focus orange poppies spread around the frame holds a lot of interest from an artistic standpoint. The original is overexposed somewhat however you have corrected that in your worked on version. If you wish to work more on your original the cropping out of the sky would improve the image. Charles makes a lot of good suggestions in his comments. |
