Hi Richard: In studying the image it certainly looks good to me, could not recommend changing anything. It is hard to get detail and texture in white pond lily petals as they do not have much texture to begin with; then it is very easy to burn out white petals anyway. I can see some detail in the white petals and that is good. Sharp detail on the bee with good placement within the frame. Nice Work... |

Hi Priscilla: Nice idea and experiment using various types of subjects to create the picture. To me your composition seems a bit uneven and not balanced; you have left a narrow light area at the left and without that same area on the other side of the frame; seems a bit uneven the way the stem of the dahlia ends at the edge of the frame.
Regarding Abstracts in general: You can ask every experienced photographer what their definition of an abstract is, and each person will have a different answer. I have seen photos called abstracts with gobs of colors going every which way with no attempt at any kind of an artistic design at all, and also with no anchor point you could call a center of interest. To me I prefer some kind of a center of interest to anchor the picture, and would prefer some kind of a nice design. Do not really care for a totally unorganized display.
I am not certain; Would any of you refer to my wood texture picture in this round as an abstract ?? |

Hi Barbara: Interesting subject not often photographed. Good photo and post processing techniques. I do not think the light green in the upper left corner really adds anything, perhaps a bit of an eye catcher. You have however matched your border color with that green background and that part works well. Neal's advice regarding the use of f/16 in your focus stacking is well taken. |

Hi Alane: Very interesting choice of subject !! The medium gray background supports the subject well, and she (the witch) is dressed in interesting colors too, and then the interesting hat. Good photo technique. I am not certain how the light tan out of focus object in the background that merges with the witch fits in with the theme of the picture, unless it is the witches broom. |

Hi Neal: Impressive magnification on these aphids, you must have at least 3X or even more magnification for them to appear this large on the monitor. Impressive sharpness and detail, the lighting seems to be from the side, as the fuzz on the bottom of the leaf really stands out well. I Like the diagonal placement of the central leaf vein, it does not cut the picture in half as it would if you had the vein protruding from each corner. Good Macro Work !! |
