Thanks for your interesting comments. I will experiment with a soft green border, the pink does come on a bit too strong. |

Hi Phyllis: Very well thought out composition arrangement of the stems entering the frame and the leaves cascading down from the top of the frame. Wonderful muted color tones against the white mottled background. Good job of seeing the possibility of a picture looking up at the leaves above you. |

Hi Barbara: You have composed the flower in a most graceful manner to present the flower in a most artistic pose. I think the shadows help give dimension. The central part of the flower may be just ever so slightly soft, what I notice more is the upper left corner of your back ground cloth is quite soft in detail. Wonderful color harmonies, your background color choice is ideal. Really nice work !! |

Hi Gary: Am thinking the placement of the red subject would be better if biased to the lower right 1/3 power point area. The subject is not entirely sharp from top to bottom, the bottom part seems quite soft in detail. I also use the Nikon 200mm f/4 macro and it is a great lens; with this close in type of subject I find it best to use f/16 to gain enough depth of field to cover the entire subject with good sharpness. |

Hi Alane: You are fortunate to have lived in a cold enough climate to have the conditions to make this picture possible. Out here in the Pacific Northwest is is never cold enough for long enough for this iced branch condition to even happen. Composition is well done, like the small maple leaf in the upper right corner as it adds a nice point of interest. The white background works for me. Well done !! |

Hi Neal, Another fine example of your focus stacking skills. Who would have guessed an earwig could be this colorful, and this color adds a lot to the overall impact. Technical excellence and the red border matches the color of the head, then the black background color was idea for this subject. Composition is very graceful. |

Hi Richard: You have a lot of potential with this subject with some added post processing In my humble opinion there are a couple of areas that could be improved upon and it would improve the picture. The light background is distracting, would darken it down a lot, would also darken the out of focus light green areas in the upper left corner so your eye is not drawn to the out of focus part of the plant. The bee its self is pretty sharp but falls off in sharpness to the back part of the bee, think f/16 aperture would have provided improved sharpness on the entire bee. |
