63 Apr 21 Comment Hi Richard: Like the slight wing motion as it shows action. Really nice background colors well out of focus; my two cents would be to darken down the green stem or grass directly above the hummer's head, it does draw ones attention away from the very colorful bird. Also while you are working on the bright stem the light green object directly under the bird could be toned down somewhat. Other than the mentioned tweaks, great capture. I like your border color, very much the same color as the birds head, and I think it puts the finishing touch to the scene. Apr 16th
63 Apr 21 Comment Hi Alane: The warm color tones of gold and red draw one into the scene. A lot of intricate design well captured. It is interesting to me the left subject is slightly lower in the frame than the right one, keeps the subjects from being static. It is always difficult to shoot through a glass case, but you have done well in that regard. Apr 16th
63 Apr 21 Comment Hi Priscilla: The use of booking paper with a slight texture in exactly the right color supports the tulip very well. A good idea from a composition standpoint to have the stem entering the frame on a slight angle. The soft warm indoor lighting set the mood very well for this fine tulip picture. From a technical standpoint very well done. Apr 3rd
63 Apr 21 Comment Hi Barbara: You have certainly put some thought into how you wanted to present the dried oak leaf and dried pine needles into an attractive and well composed picture, you have succeeded very well. Like the strong diagonal lines of the weathered porch board from lower left to upper right with the oak leaf following the same lines; then the pine needles add another point of interest. Your post processing brought out the most in this image and the thin white border adds a nice touch. Good Work !! Apr 3rd
63 Apr 21 Comment Hi Gary: Welcome to our group. Overall I think the background seem quite busy and a bit light in tone. It seems to compete for attention with your main subjects, the little white flower with bee. Darkening the background would focus the viewers attention on the flower and bee that to me are the main centers of interest. A good well chosen background should support and compliment the main subject. Apr 3rd
63 Apr 21 Comment Hello Neal: A very common "bug" that we all are familiar with. We do not look as closely as you do with your extreme magnifications of the insects you have shared with us over the years. You always capture amazing details and patterns with fine composition and tremendous sharpness and attention to detail. Then your studio lighting set-up creates very dramatic lighting to enhance the colors of your subjects. The slight fall off in sharpness at the upper left is dark in tone, therefore not a distraction. Your choice of border color is always well chosen to blend in with the insect colors. Apr 3rd
