Hi Priscilla: I always like to try new techniques, that is how we learn. Like your composition as is, however it would work very well flipping 180 horizontal, give this a try and see what you think. Like the warm color rendition of the plant and flower, however think the background is a bit over powering. You could try backing off the color temperature slider somewhat and still have the effect you wanted. If you wanted to leave the flower as is you can always select out just the background and cool it off a bit, but this is rather time consuming. Good experiment !! |

Hi Lou: Very interesting subject, thanks for sharing. The main thing I notice is a lot of digital noise in the image, back in our slide film days we would call this 'grain'. I think you will find the D500 and D850 are vastly improved over your D7100 in the digital noise factor. I do not believe you can push the ISO in the D7100 to ISO 900 without this noise factor becoming a problem, then cropping in just magnifies the issue. |

Hi Neal: You have mastered the art of photo stacking, this photo is just another fine example of photo stacked images you have shown us in past rounds. This spider is very colorful and I can see 6 eyes by looking closely. Perfect technique in all ways. |

Hi Richard: Very interesting capture with a lot of impact and very well done. This picture really captures your attention when it appears on the monitor, that is what a really good image always does. Amazing you could hold the camera with one hand and the grasshopper with the other and make the photo. Your grasshopper specie is very colorful with the black body and yellow stripes and also reddish legs, our species is quite dull in comparison. KUDOS !! |

Thanks Lou and Richard for your thoughtful comments on the Lilies. Richard: I agree whole heartedly the rule of thirds does not always work for every subject, but it is good to know none the less. Another example out there is a subject should never be dead centered in the frame, I beg to differ with that comment as in certain types of pictures centering the image is the only approach that works well. Take Care !! |
