Thanks Paul for the ID. on the moth, according to Wikipedia this moth can grow up to 3" across. |

Hi Priscilla: Nice pleasant soft colors and good sharpness on the subject. The black background at the left while acceptable does bother me a little as it kind of takes away from the delicateness of the flower, I try to find a flower large enough to completely fill the frame with flower petals, so no background shows. Large Dahlias work well. |

Hello Pat: As Rosangela mentions also I like the heart-shaped composition. Most of these orchid shows I attend the ambient lighting is kind of low, and they do not allow tripods either. You have used flash to obtain a nice image other wise it would be pretty difficult in the low light situation. One reason I try to not use flash like Neal and Rosangela mention is it creates flatter lighting due to most of the natural shadows being removed by the flash. You did a masterful job cleaning up that nasty background. |

Hi Paul: You managed to place the head of the spider very well between the two yellow objects, this makes the composition work well. Very sharp detail on the eyes, those interesting eyes are the first thing the viewer sees when the image comes up on the monitor. You did very well to capture this image holding the camera with one hand and obtain sharp focus. Good Capture ! |

Hi Neal: You are focused in very close, probably more than one to one ratio. You very likely could not have used your focus stacking method on this image due to the movement of the "bugs". Depth of field even at f/22 is very shallow at this high magnification, you did well to get the entire ant in focus. The insects in the upper left are sightly out of focus, this does not bother me in the least. I like the diagonal placement of the ant within the frame. Good Work !! |

Hi Rosangela: A good example of selective focus in close-up photography by not stopping the lens down very far. Very pleasant color palette and in this scene I like the subject biased to the right and not dead centered. |
