Hi Priscilla: A really creative glass plate set-up with pleasant colors. The lighter outer colors are just a lighter shade of the central maroon part. In my personal opinion from a composition standpoint I would suggest a couple of changes. Would have preferred not to have the flower cut off on the right hand side of the frame. Would leave a small amount of the edge of the glass plate as you have done on the left side, your top cropping is good. The bottom edge of the plate should not touch the edge of the frame, would leave a little room as you have done on the left side. A great creative idea !! I also have Charles Needles book "Tiny Worlds". A lot of good macro photography information in that book. |

Hello Pat: A lot of color here, it really comes on strong. Neal makes a good point in needing more breathing room at the top of the frame, in my humble opinion the round central part of the flower should not touch the top of the frame. The room you left at the bottom is just right. Very good sharpness on the central part of the flower, softening up at the edge of the frame which is fine with me for this type of picture. The positioning of the round central part biased to the right side of the frame is ideal for this picture. |

Hi Neal: You mention the technique is not difficult; that being said you did a lot of prep work to prepare the subject to even be able to photographed it. Technical quality is spot on in all aspects. Here is a situation where dead centered composition works perfectly; the rule of thirds would not work well in this situation, so much for rules!! Regarding the moire patterns in the eyes; it is a digital artifact. If you log into Photography Life.com they have a very interesting article on why this happens, it gets into some very technical stuff. Myself I would not worry about it. Great shot !! |

Hi Rosangela: Very colorful sea creature, a person would need to be a marine biologist to know what family the subject belonged to. The color the subject is so interesting and blends with the warm toned sand very well. Your original crop is certainly okay; you needed to leave a little more breathing room on the left as it is kind of tight against the frame. Priscilla's horizontal crop is nice also, just goes to show that there is more than one way to compose an image. |

Hi Priscilla: Thanks for the advise on cloning in the black area at the upper left of the frame. Had not especially noticed the broken leaves myself, and it will help to fill that area with leaf color. |
