Hi Phyllis: Good artistic idea; from a composition standpoint I would have the subject biased more to the right side of the frame rather than to the left. Just my own personal preference !! The left side of the leaf tips as well as the tops are not sharp, the depth of field using f/16 should have covered the leaf with total sharpness. I am thinking you did not have your camera set up on the tripod aligned squarely with the leaf, but were on an angle. |

Hi Pat: Hope you are coming along well with your knee replacement.
I like the original too, the soft green center and yellow petals blend together very nicely. The monochrome version is more creative, would follow Norman's suggestion and try making a more Hi-Key type of conversion as it would give the flower more impact. |

Hi Dan: This is one of those situations where in macro work it is difficult to have everything perfect as far as sharpness. The use of F/9 did not offer enough depth of field on the green leaf at the bottom part of the frame, this type of image would be greatly improved by using f/16 aperture so the dew drops were totally sharp across the picture area from side to side. Then here is the problem with using f/16, the background would become very busy and distracting. However then you could in post processing blur the background to remove any distractions back there. It would take some post processing time, but the finished image could be very nice. |

Hi Norman: Welcome to Macro/Close-up Group #63.
Like your nature oriented collage with the colorful autumn leaves, gray lichen and the addition of the feather. The feather is well placed on the right as it tends to keep your eye in the picture area. The large red Maple leaf at the bottom creates a nice base for this pleasant image. |

Hi Neal: Very well done butterfly image in all aspects. Good technical work and a pleasing composition with a nice out of focus background. If I had one suggestion and this is just nit picking; would be to clone out the dark spots in the background, and also the bright leaf tip to the right as they do tend to catch your eye. If you did this it would raise this fine image up to the next level of perfection. Much easier cloning if you blow the image up to 200% or even 300%. |

Hi Rosangela: From a composition standpoint I like the way you have presented this image. The large dominate wing makes a great leading line from the lower left corner, your eye follows the wing right up to the body of the"bug". Then also you have positioned the upper left wing in the right place. The use of f/18 aperture allowed for good depth of field through out the subject, as all parts of the Green Insect are sharp. Good Capture of an interesting subject. |
