Hi Neal: I would not crop the image from the left as that would cause the mushroom grouping to be centered in the frame. as is I have the grouping biased to the right which looks good to me. Lisa also points out the rule of thirds works good as presented. |

Nice close in portrait of the kitty. Not super sharp hand holding at 1/30 sec. but acceptable for the subject. I like the window reflections in kitty's eyes. |

Hi Pat: You used the rule of thirds perfectly here, the center of the red flower is placed exactly at the lower right 1/3 power point. High impact color draws you into the subject which is very sharp in detail with very good lighting for this subject. Good Work!! |

Hi Lisa, Very color caterpillar, the blue and yellow go very well with the green vegetation. Depth of field is a bit shallow at f/5.6. Shutting the lens down to f/16 would have produced good sharpness on the caterpillar, however your background would likely become busy with more depth of field. It is always a trade off of some kind in macro work; either perfect sharpness on the subject and a busy BG, or the subject a little less sharp and a nice out of focus BG. Nice work! |

Hi Lisa: it was raining at the time this photograph was taken so the mushrooms are wet. The tops of the mushrooms are reflecting the gray sky above, looks natural to me in this weather condition |

Hi Neal: A very interesting "bug" you have photographed very well. Using your photo stacking program as you do your images never lack for sharpness. It is interesting the insect seems to float in space, not perched on anything. Background color is well chosen as is your border treatment, the thin golden yellow border matches some of the colors in the Snakefly perfectly.
Good work !! |

Hi Rosa: I like the color palette in the image, the golden yellows, maroon and blue go together very well, then the black at the bottom adds a nice base to the picture. Good seeing to spot this abstract design; myself I would crop off some of that gray area at the top. I use my cell phone camera once in awhile, the photo ability of the newer phones just keeps getting better as time goes on. You can do minor adjustments in the phone, but in no way will it ever replace my full size DSLR. |
