Hi Pat: I like to photograph old pocket watches and clocks myself, so I can see why you were drawn to this subject.
Compositionally speaking this design is rather random, I cannot find an anchor point or center of interest to base the picture on, rather abstract I would say. Seems just a bit underexposed, another 1/3 or 1/2 F stop lighter exposure would make the image "pop" a little more. |

Hi Priscella: Nice complimentary colors with the bronze and golden yellow. I would try flipping this horizontally 180 degrees, I think the design may work better, and also the subject would be biased to the right side of the frame, which I kind of prefer. |

It is amazing that you could rescue this picture from the vastly under exposed original, todays post processing programs sometimes save the day (or night in your case).
Over all lighting is a bit uneven and contrasty, in order to achieve balanced lighting you probably would have needed two flash units, one on each side of the subject. The blue coloration on the wings is impressive. |

Hi Lisa: This botanical picture of the poppy is an excellent example of flower photography done to perfection, it does not get any better than this. The flower is sharp front to back, and composition is well thought out with the blue flower bud positioned near the one third power point area to the right. Wonderful soft lighting fits the delicate flower very well, then the green out of focus background with the out of focus blue near the top supports the subject well. KUDOS !! |

Hi Neal: Much of the time we do not see very close in insect pictures this sharp. The medium gray background fits the subject well, and also your choice of gold outer frame matches the subject color very closely. Very well done focus stacking to obtain super sharpness on the subject. Good work! |

Hi Rosa: Kind of a different subject than we usually see, and that is certainly okay. Interesting composition with the 3 little guys perched on top. I can live with the cut off roots, however the border merger at the left where the root touches the frame needs to be avoided. In the future leave some breathing room so the root does not touch the picture frame and then comes back into the picture area. Pleasant complimentary colors with the orange and blue. |
