Lisa: Thanks for pointing out the background cloning issue, I will fix that. Just did not examine it at 100% or would have seen it. |

Hi Priscilla: Lighting is the key here. The strong side lighting shows off the fluted type petals so very well. Placement of the green central part of the flower is well chosen. Nice flower work !! |

Hello Pat: Even though you shot this at f/32 it is a good example of selective focus. The images is fairly sharp around the edge of the Iris flower and falls off in softness down inside of the flower. This selective focus creates a very pleasant mood that always seems to work well with certain flowers. If you used focus stacking here with many images the flower would be totally sharp everywhere, but like your soft rendition very well as is. Very artistically done composition.
KUDOS on a fine flower image. |

Hi Lisa: A fine example of good Photo-shop creativity, and a really good example of the centering of an image in the frame works very well for some images. The rule of thirds would not work well here. Strong punchy colors adds to the impact.
I will fix the background cloning issue on the monochrome Aster, just did not see it and thanks for pointing that out. |

Hi Neal: Just a perfect job of focus stacking, and just perfect exposure. The blue background compliments the yellow insect very well. Good Work !!

Hi Rosangela: From a technical standpoint this is well done. The butterfly is very sharp except for the antennae, but at this magnification that is hard to do. This type of macro work is sometimes a compromise, if you were to stop the lens aperture down to f/16 for better depth of field, then that nice soft background you have would become very busy and distracting. Some times in this macro work you just gotta pick your poison. Composition is a bit different with the butterfly vertical in the frame, probably would be better from a composition standpoint if the image was rotated 90 degrees counter clockwise. Still a nice presentation. |
