Hi Priscilla: Nice Kitty, looks like a real sweet heart. The diagonal composition with the kitty's eyes on an angle works very well. Do not feel that f/6.3 allowed you quite enough depth of field to completely cover the cats entire face with sharp detail, f/11 would have probably been a better f stop with its added zone of sharpness. That being said you did well to even get the kitty to cooperate in having its picture taken. Our cat would never cooperate like Zerrin. Regarding the eye window highlights, to me they are okay. |

Hi Patrick: High impact colors and I love the soft greenhouse lighting. The use of F/32 provided enough depth of field so the outer petals are pretty well in focus. The large pink leave at the bottom left provides a leading line into the central portion of the flower; then the other leaves in back keep your eye in the picture. Nicely done! |

Hi Khai: Your 80-400 Nikon zoom rendered very well on this Red Dragon, great detail from the zoom lens set at 400mm. You could never have achieved such a pleasant out of focus background with your 105 macro lens. Would try Lisa's idea of reversing the image; as the picture is presented the insect is biased a little to the left in the frame; in reversing the image would read from left to right and be biased to the right side of the frame which to me is preferable. Good work !! |

Hi Lisa: A good example of this 'grunge' look that some photographers are doing today. Like the overall mood with the tarnished finish on the chrome door handle, and then the oxidized and peeling dark green paint. Composed well with the door handle on a slight diagonal to the upper right. |

Hi Karen: This picture is a great example of selective focus in flower photography. The stamens in the central part of the flower are sharp and the foreground and background stamens are well out of focus and create this dreamy mood. The overall color palette is so very pleasing, the colors all blend together so very well. You could try focus stacking so all of the stamens were in sharp focus, however in doing so you would loose this beautiful mood you have created. I think you 'nailed' this very well. Great creative work !! |

Hi Charles: Your two versions Original 1 and the larger posted version are quite different from each other and both quite nice. Original 1 has a lot of impact due to the dark background which makes the flower stand out. Your larger version has a soft dreamy mood that I especially like. My only 'nit' would be the dark green detail in the upper right corner; it does not fit in with the very nice subdued background in the rest of your image. It would be easy blend in your other background colors into this area. The large dew drop is a nice point of interest. Good Work!! |
