I like the selective focus on the top flower and the softness of the other areas because they convey a painterly effect that I find soothing. I agree with Lori's comments if the intent is to present a crisp version of the single camellia.		 Mar 24th

I agree that this is an American Coot and think that Melissa's crop works well for me.
Also the suggestion to tone down the highlights makes good sense to me. Personally, the presence of the reeds adds to the realism for me. Thanks for sharing this one!		 Mar 24th

The contrast of red and green is a favorite combination for me. The details of the bottom blooms are interesting to me. I find that the suggestion of a pyramid shape in the composition adds interest. Thanks for sharing this one!		 Mar 24th

The many details of the orchid petals are most interesting to me and I find the soft background is pleasing. I think you did a masterful job in taking this image.

Although the light background adds warmth, I do like the suggestion to darken the background because the blooms are then clearly highlighted for me. Thanks for sharing this beauty.		 Mar 24th
