Hi Karen,
Thanks for explaining your creative approach. I think it is great fun to try new things!
The color tones of the lily and leaves are beautiful to me.
When I first looked at this image, I thought I was seeing an interesting but distorted reflection rather than water with ripples. I think this may be because the disturbance appeared to be localized to the area beneath the flower.
The texturing of the gray background is interesting but I agree with Lori about considering a black background for this image. |

Hi Jim,
I'm enjoying this interesting action shot and can imagine ideas for a finished basket.
Is there possibly more textural detail that could be revealed in the white fibers…I can see many faint details there.
Thanks for sharing this one. |

Hi Ruth,
The textures of the dried flowers hold my interest in this lovely image. Your light painting adventures sound like great fun and I look forward to seeing your work each month.
Just some small suggestions to consider…I wish there was a bit more light at camera right to show the dimension of the vase. With the impression of the main light coming from above at camera left the shadows on the table top are not what I would expect. Also, perhaps the tops of the light roses could be tamed with the burn tool to balance the image. |

Lori,
I admire the idea of this composition and find the compositional structure engaging. Also, to my eye, the choice of B&W for this image is ideal because it conveys emotive value to me.
Lance and others have offered what I think are helpful suggestions to further enhance this image. |

Thank's Karen. I'll explore redoing the crop to give the background equal space, the way it was shot, as well as converting the image to B&W. |

Thanks Melissa! I really like your suggestion of converting to a B&W and I'll work on this. Doing that allows me to highlight the flower details, while keeping the contextual information regarding the plant growth it was competing with available to the viewer. |

Thanks, Frank. I do like the beautiful contrast of a light colored subject on a dark background and the additional contrast in your modification. Seeing a floating subject in a frame, however is something that I often find unsettling...but maybe it works here.
My choice of a light background was to create an image that was serene and might possibly convey a sense of joy. I thought the angle of the bloom and it's leaf could suggest a dynamic and playful vibe.
Please know, I appreciate your helpful feedback to understand how this image might be perceived by others, as that is something that can't be predicted. Thanks again, Frank. |

Hi Bev,
I can only image the wonder of seeing hundreds of waterlilies and the challenge of isolating one. The palette of dark hot pink amongst shades of green is so pleasing to me.
I also agree with the suggestions offered by Donald and Frank, especially the idea of placing the waterlily on a third line. |

Hi Donald,
The balance of front and back lighting in this capture holds my attention. I wouldn't have guessed that it was taken indoors. Thank you for sharing this wonderful macro. |

Hi Frank,
This is a truly beautiful image and the reveal of the dark green leaves and hints of a bud enhance its beauty for me. Sinking the rose image in black suggests drama and a sense of mystery to me. The dew drops enhance this image and convey both the freshness and delicacy of the rose itself. Thank you for sharing this one! |
