Thanks, Karen. I agree, lowering the highlights of the flower behind the zinnia would improve the image. Thank you for this suggestion and your comments. |

Hi Jim, I enjoyed seeing this story-telling image! Thank you.
Is the black stuff char from inside the barrel? I imagine when the pump is running the smell is amazing. To me, the backlighting on the pump and the gleam of the metal against the wood enhance the image, and the second barrel forms a pleasing background adding context.
The very bright area on the barrel that is directly behind and underneath the pump attracts my attention. |

Welcome to the group, Tom!
To my eye, the details of the sunflower petals add interest and the exposure conveys a sense of their lovely softness. The placement of the flower in the frame and just- enough-black in the background draw me into the image.
Looking closely, I can see the suggestion of the spiral patterns formed by the seeds in the flower's center and wish this were more visible. |

Hi Ruth,
The shadows enhance the pumpkin subjects for me as they seem to convey a sense of depth and possibly suggest a spooky Halloween mystery. To me, the color palette is harmonious and radiates a feeling of warmth, which is pleasing. I think this is well done.
The small tilt is somewhat noticeable in the lines of the wood grain compared to the horizon.

To my eye, the light on the single lily is beautifully captured. Using the tree trunk in the distance for the background makes the flower pop for me and I find the softly muted background so pleasing. Thank you for sharing this image! |

Hi, Frank. Your suggestion to crop off some of the top to better balance the image makes good sense to me. Thank you. |

Seeing your image helps me imagine the lovely scent of pine! I remember reading that the piñóns (pine nuts) produced by this pine were a major food crop for some early Native Americans.
Viewing this image I get a sense of the multitude of small, compact cones among masses of short pine needles. The light on the rich green needles is lovely to me and the bokeh in the bottom left of the frame suggest a sense of depth that I enjoy.
I wish, however, that I could identify a part of the image that is clearly emphasized. |

Seeing this capture of a field of wild flowers is appealing to me. I find it conveys a fast-paced sense of imagined 'rhythm' in the crowd of closely spaced subjects. I think the diagonal composition suggests movement and the shadows a rolling wave. The unpredictable appearance of the tiny punish blooms are a lovely surprise to me and enhance my interest. |

My eye is drawn to the depth and exquisite details that are captured. For me, the image suggests a sense of grace and elegance that I associate with Canterbury bells in a garden. Thank you for sharing this beauty! |

I agree with Frank, about the great color, interesting detail, and sharpness that were captured. However, I find that sinking the flower in black enhances the image for me. To my eye the shadows and deep black use of negative space convey a sense of mystery and drama! Thanks for sharing this beautiful image. |
