Gorgeous! Great timing in capturing the brief burst of sunlight and the progressive darkening draws me into the scene. Thanks for sharing this beauty! |

Thanks so much for sharing your settings for this capture. This is very helpful. I enjoy seeing the many textures and can imagine myself in this tranquil, yet powerful place of rushing water.
I do like the green cast in this image but the color value is too intense for me. |

The textures and patterns of the ropes captured my attention. I think you have a great eye for these types of found still life images.
I thought that Arun's adjustments work well and enhanced the image. It might be fun to experiment and preserve the red threads, but convert the remainder of the image into a monochrome. |

I find this to be an interesting creative capture! From the thumbnail I thought it might be a sparkler or possibly fireworks. I do like the negative space in your composition, but do understand the suggestions about a tighter crop. |

Terry and Arun,
You've both commented on the notes, however Larry is working on getting the one's I had sent loaded and correcting the error here.
Here are my original notes that I had submitted:
How I Did It
Title: Fishing Sun Bear
It was great fun to watch this sun bear in action fishing in its habitat at a small zoo. I thought the composition was good, placing the bear off to the right of the frame, allowing room for anticipated natural movement, and suggesting depth with a view of the water flowing around the animal. The time of day was not ideal due to the bright flat lighting, but I tried to position the camera to capture the bear's colorful eye and fur details. In the original shot, sparkling sunlight on the water surfaces were somewhat blown out for me and needed to be darkened. Also, the bear's face was underexposed and some selective modifications were required (which would disqualify this image for nature categories that limit post-processing to particular global actions).

This image was captured handheld with a Sony DSCRX100 using the following settings: 37.1 mm (in 35mm: 100mm); 1/200 sec; f/5.6; ISO125.
