14 Jun 17 Comment The story in this image and the beautiful details fascinate me! Bravo on this wonderful capture.

Larry's color changes do make the birds pop. I agree the nest details appear to be the sharpest, and wish I had young eyes, too!

14 Jun 17 Comment I love the feather details and crispness of the bird! I find the perspective interesting, as this seems to be an unusual view.

The masking details are challenging and this seems to be a tricky image in that regard, but as others have mentioned the brightness of the background competes with the main subject. Let us know how things work with the use of the Remax module.

14 Jun 17 Comment I think you've captured a dreamy image that conveys a sense of calm.

Thanks, for explaining about the detail extractor!
I agree that the composition itself is pleasing but understand Larry's suggestions to further emphasize the lighthouse and make it a point of interest.

14 Jun 17 Reply I also agree (make that 4 times)!

To me the slanting sky suggests the building might tumble down and it seems to work for me. I like Fran's idea of trying to add more detail to the sky, but Larry's idea to add some 'sun' is interesting, too.

I experimented to try out some of these ideas...using FX Silver Effects Pro, I started with the old Low Key 2 preset and in PSE, I applied a 10% opacity dissolve pattern 1/ layer mask 8.I. Also, I cropped out the tree, as others suggested.

No doubt, these quick modifications would need further refinement, but I hope they provide some ideas of their effect.

14 Jun 17 Comment The textures and details of the mushrooms hold my interest and the lighting seems to enhance these features. I find these beautiful!

The bright green competes for my attention, but as others have mentioned color toning might be explored. I like the context provided by the grasses because it helps me understand the setting, and achieves a dynamic composition. If, however, highlighting the different shades in the mushrooms is the goal then I would agree with Fran's suggestion.

14 Jun 17 Comment Thank you for the helpful comments. When I tried to darken the edges I thought the image appeared gloomy. Your illustration however shows me that this works!

I didn't apply any water to the bloom. You are correct about the irregularity in the shape and size of the drops. We had a light shower and breezy conditions. Perhaps this contributed to the appearance of the droplets.

14 Jun 17 Comment The textures and details are wonderful, however the light leads my eye to land on at a region of interest. I think this is a superb example of how simple lines of light add drama and emphasize the subject.
Thank you for sharing this one!
