Thanks for the helpful suggestions.
I agree that Pat's edit works well but may keep someone guessing about the context. I like the idea of a compromise to better highlight the pumpkin shell and flower without sacrificing all of the context suggested by the vines. Thanks!

Pat, I love the artistic sand swirls and grittiness of the individual grains of sand in the image. You have a great eye for 'seeing' the unusual. Thanks for sharing this.
The suggestions to remove the grain, and adjustments in tonality would achieve an interesting and effective interpretation that highlights the abstraction...but I too, like the 'sense of the sand'. |

Fran, the simplicity of this image and eye-play that it creates for me are a winning combination!
Great monochromatic treatment with good tonal contrasts. Thanks.
I found Arun's treatment refreshing, too! |

Eleanor, I can sense the power and mist of the falls from your photos! Thanks for sharing this.
Arun's emphasis on the silhouetted figures against the falls is interesting, but I too find the original satisfying. I think Larry's reasoning helps me understand why. |

I agree that this is an interesting capture and the details and play of light are beautifully featured. Seeing the mom walking away from the camera adds a sense of mystery for me and draws my eye into the scene to follow her. Well done!
Larry's idea to tone down the bright sidewalk is a good one, although I must admit that I didn't think of it initially! |

Oh, I agree the monochrome version is magical and conveys simplicity.
Your treatment with the shadows suggests a sense of greater depth to me. I find the use of HDR is artistic in this image, yet realistic.

A hearty welcome to you, Stuart!
To my eye this is a crisp, bold image from a creative perspective. I think the edited image in your recent post remedies the concerns raised in the comments. Personally, the 'hints' work for me. Thanks for sharing your original view of the Flagler. |
