I'll try that. Thank you for suggestions. These are the ones I don't always know. |

The action of the image is interesting; however the colors seem over processed, and the green vegetation pulls me away from the deer. |

I agree with you. The raw image does have rich tree color that works with the water's blue. |

I looked at this several times, and my interest went around the whole image. You made a good decision to use monochrome for it. I think the overall image needs a bit more clarity or dehazing. For me it is a bit soft.
Where were you in relation to the spot? It looks dangerous.

I also like the seed pods, and you do have a good bokeh. The bird's pose is a good one. It seems to be looking at you.
I would suggest that you focus on the pods at the bottom and crop the top. In my opinion, the bright white sky detracts from the total image. Depending on your opinion about cloning or spot healing, I'd take away a few branches. I would definitely crop some of the branches from the side of the tree. Last of all I'd add a curves adjustment to bring out the rich tones of the feathers. If you were to focus on the bottom pods and crop the sky, a horizontal crop would work well.

The foreground rocks draw me into the water scene. Because of the bright blue water, my eye stops there rather than having the water take me back to the treeline areas. I would boost the tree colors a bit. For me they should be an equal part of the image but seem to be overpowered by the water.

I like the open mouth of the young duckling which captures my interest and brings me into the scene. The image is sharp and interesting. Your colors are true to nature. I would dodge the eye a few times to bring out the highlights. More importantly, if you have room to put back, I'd like a bit more water to the left of the leg. I had to look twice to see if it had been cropped off. It wasn't but the webs are close to falling off the page. |
