A good idea. I can practice that. I've not done it very much. To be sure you are saying, open my aperture, then take several pictures focusing on a different plane each time. Then use focus stacking to merge them.
All suggestions this month have been helpful. Thanks to all.

This time I tried to crop using the triangle crop lines. That gave me the amount on the side given where I wanted the rest of the flower to fall on the crop guide. I like your suggestion about darkening the background. It could be a bit darker. |

Sharon how did you get such a vast degree of color change?
And can you suggest a filter to try for adding an artistic look to a flower? I have only Photoshop and NIK and would like to test something else. |

I very much like your version. I tried to get more texture in the leaves and somehow they darkened. I will remember curves next time.

I like the white background which gives a winter feeling to your image. I like the way the birds are sitting on the branch. I had to blow up the image a bit to find the eyes. Dodging the catch light and burning the pupils would help draw my attention to them. I would also suggest burning the beaks only slightly to bring out the color in them.

Very nice composition. The feathers in the bottom of the heart provide added interest. Perfect for Valentine's Day. Like Mike, I think the feathers have a purple cast on my screen. |

John, what a clear image you achieved. I very much like the colors. The green branches show off the colors of the butterfly. Your bokeh is rich and highlights the important parts of your image |

Carol, the eye and beak draw my attention. You have caught a great sparkle in the eye. The colors are lovely, and I would like to see brighter colors, perhaps using levels or curves. The branch bothers me but more so the bright lights at the bottom are a distraction for me.

Mike I like the composition of your Anhinga, especially the grass in his mouth. The bird is sharp, and the image tells a good story. In my opinion, your background is too dark. Taking into account that you chose this I edited the image taking the colors just a bit lighter. I think it shows off the Anhinga better. The water becomes more a part of the story again, in my opinion. I would probably take it a step lighter but want to take your process into consideration. |

Oh wow! This definitely has value as a art image. I love the way you handled the colors. The duck is perfectly placed, and I am drawn to the reflection. Additionally your handling of the eye is grand. I am drawn to the whole image then want to spend time looking at its parts.
Well done.
Were you in Rockport? The season is beginning now at High Island. |
