Next month's competition theme for my club is monochrome. I'll try that to see how it looks.
Thank you for the settings suggestions. I learn from those. |

When you mentioned the shutter speed I checked to see if it was a typo but it was not. I think I used a tripod and set to aperture setting. |

Good suggestion in that I raised the shadows of the rocks fearing they would be too dark. I'll lower them and see how it turns out. |

Good subject matter and catch light in the eye. You have worked the sky well removing what you call muddy blue. I would like a crop that showed some of the tree line; however that is a personal preference. I like a bit of background to add to the nature story. |

The colors of your image work well together. Each colorful part draws my eye to it. The diagonal of the flower guides my attention up and down. The light blue frames the flower well, and the dark background keeps my eye in the focus of the image.

Each part of this image brings your attention to the bird's eye hitting the water. What good composition this is. Each part is clear and sharp. Even the droplets of water add interest. I would change nothing. |

Well done. The colors pull me into the landscape. The river runs diagonally through the image taking my attention through it. Your colors are natural and pretty. There is just enough sky to complete the nature scene. |

Carol, where was this shot? The colors are grand. When I opened the image at first only the bird was showing. With a crop the bird alone is a strong image. The feathers capture my attention. There is a catch light in the bird's eye. I would suggest cropping a bit from the top as the sky is too white and draws from the bird.
Additionally, if you can tone down the yellow of the leaves near the iguana more attention will be drawn to the iguana.
How lucky you were to witness this splendid show of nature.

I like the calm strength of the image. I like the gentle movement of water around the tree and the reflection in the foreground. The skyline is soft and tranquil. It adds enough interest for my eye to rest there but does not diminish the blue water. If I were to be nitpicky I would want to see the shadows of the tree raised only slightly. |
